If you are a true FW'er, you would have picked up many deals over the Summer. These deals are even better than BF

I'll tell you who: people with a toilet that got busted the day before when some snotty nephew who was over for Thanksgiving dinner screwed around with the handle and made it so the toilet runs all the time...

HAHAHAHA so funny.

I guess you could go to Ace Hardware on BF if you want to get your Dad or someone a manly gift. I personally never go to Ace Hardware on BF.....but someone may i guess...

Chelsea Premium Outlet will be doing the midnight madness sale again. Where select stores will open at 12am. If it's anything like last year, it's nothing spectacular.

Get to the store 3:00 am and hang around for a few hours and get great deals.

Its OVER

Todays BF has crazy teens lining up at 8:00PM the night BEFORE. Why do they do this? Well they dont have jobs or much money so they will do anything to get items cheap.

BF has turn into a line of unemployed people!!!!

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I predict a $500 40" or 42" LCD

That's true. But there are always a couple BF deals that are really worthy, but you shouldn't depend on or really wait for BF anymore..

Amen to that.

It doesn't mean they are unemployed -_-
It's the exact same reason why people line up for new products on their release dates; they WANT the item. If you really want something on BF and it appears to be a "hot" item, suck it up and wait in line.

It's not that difficult of a concept..

MUCH AGREED!
Depending on what is going on I might not even go this year for the grand openings. I've gone for the past few years and last year was completely different. I used to show up with a coffee around 4:00am to 4:30am, wait till 6am, and get my stuff. Last year I drove by BestBuy and people were there at 10pm the night before. I hate to say it but my time is worth way more than the few hundred bucks I will save.

Unless there is something that is a killer deal and I am dying to get, you won't see me waiting out in the cold

Yeah, BF has lost something over the years -- my normal routine was to go to CompUSA for their 9PM opening do my shopping and then grab some food and be at Best Buy or Circuit City by 12-12:30am for a 5AM opening, works out great because I can sleep in line; rather than at home so I'm not really loosing anything. Last year I followed my normal routine and I was nearly 50th in line. The first 10 people had all been there since 4PM or earlier. If this keeps up you are going to have to line up Wednesday. Seriously it's getting crazy now, waiting 86 hrs to save $200 on a laptop really isn't worth it.

SIDENOTE: I want to see GPS, Digital SLR & 42" or larger TV's as doorbusters. Thats my shopping list.

RapaciousEbayer said:I predict a $500 40" or 42" LCD

I think we'll see 720p LCD's in that price and size range this holiday season. I'm hoping we'll see a 37" Sony or Sharp 1080i under $600. TV's are the one thing I'm really going to be watching this year because I'm looking for HD LCD. I also think it'll be interesting to see what the TV deals are like this year because the prices are now low enough that a lot of people who aren't early adapters or technophiles are starting to buy them and it's one of the few things you can still save a few hundred bucks on by waiting in line. I think the quality of this year's BF ads will probably depend on the TV's.

And to second the thoughts of many others, the BF ads have been pretty lackluster compared to previous years. It used to be you could show up 2-3 hours before the store opened and easily save a couple hundred bucks or 40-50% off the price of something you wanted. The deals were on quality merchandise that was in stock and regularly carried, it was just marked way down. I remember $450 Sony TV's for $275, you could get Sharp or Samsung DVD players for $50 when they were normally $100, etc. Now it has become like the unemployment line. People waiting all night for crappy FAR stuff, line-jumpers, etc. My sleep is worth more than that.

More and more the BF "deals" are all special build, off-brand, crap that the stores buy just for BF. It's "at least 6 per store" printers, scanners, and MP3 players for $10 or FAR. It's $2 DVD's of movies that nobody would ever buy except for the fact that they're $2. I'm guessing we'll see a ton of decent digitial cameras under $100 this year and the doorbuster deals will probably be in the $50 range. Those will pack a bunch of people into lines. I'm guessing laptops under $400 will again be a popular item as they seem to excite people whenever a serviceable unit hits the market in that price range. I wouldn't be shocked to see somebody come out with a doorbuster deal in the $250 range. Jump drives will be FAR. Car GPS units will also be popular, although I think the refurbished Garmin 330 for $160 at Frys is as good a deal on a unit as we'll see on BF.

edit: I wouldn't be surprised if that's only a partial Sears ad. I don't see any tools and they always run a bunch of Craftsman tools on sale.

Rocktest said:Last year was a little subpar, there were some good deals, but it was too the point where we thought many of the ads were actually fake because they were lackluster, when they turned out to be real. Hope the trend doesn't continue.

I'm still excited though, you'll always find something worth getting up early and going through the routine for. It's a little sad when it's over, but it's actually coming pretty quick this year! My main focus will be digi cams this year.

I like the index/new thread for every store idea.

They are going to have to offer some absolutely killer deals this year, after reading all the reports in the news about how "nobody's buying anything lately" (of course, maybe they're all just saving it for BF?)

Anywho, the $600 42" plasma is a good start, be interesting to see who tops that. If this price trend on plasmas keeps up, I'm thinking by next year I'll snag one, there's bound to be a price mistake/coupon/rebate/etc, and if not, there's always next year when there's going to be a $300 42" plasma, right? I half hope the $100 laptop rumor is true, I really need one for business use, unfortunately, if so, people (as in, scumbags) are probably going to be seriously be lining up late Wed. night. Don't need a GPS, still using my $150 Mio from last year, but maybe a better model this year for $150? I need a desktop for a family member who's still using a P-233 system (and no, I'm not kidding) so anything $125-150 and under will be ok there (that'll be an errand of mercy). Would also like to get a cheap box with tv tuner in it for another family member still clinging to a VCR (ugh).

coltifer said:Anyone object to starting an official BF TV's only thread?

I'd like to see BF threads for each big ticket item catagory (TV's, desktop computers, laptops, video games/systems, hard drives, computer monitors, gps etc.). I think most people are looking for the best place to find the particular item(s) they are interested in. If I'm looking for a laptop computer, I don't want to have to go to 10 different threads to find the best deal. Maybe you still have threads by store to discuss the non big ticket stuff so that, if for example I decide to go to BB for a laptop, I can see what other good deals I can take advantage of while I'm there.

alert mods

No video game console launch this year, which will be good for BF early bird shoppers. Door Buster will definitely be LCD and Plasmas, since TVs are harder to sell on eBay this will be another plus for shoppers. As for big seller this BF, I think GPS will be a big hit if they reach $100 price point. Follow by Plasma and LCD TVs. I wonder what will be the hottest selling toys this year.

Doesn't Sears do their F&F event a few weeks before BF with the same deals ? Any info on this ?

We went to Ace last year because we wanted to get dvd players for the car, they didnt open till 7 and there were only like 10 people in line, this was in Rhode Island, it was worth it though at target kids movies were 3 dollars so the kids were happy.
This year I am hoping to find a deal on a Canon camera.

I wanted to got there last year, but could not. They had bikes for children for 20 bucks I think.

timothy86 said:And then not long after Black Friday they had the Samsung 42" Plasma 720p for $799.

I understand that 720p would be good if it's priced low and is not your main (living room) TV. I'm wondering why would anyone be interested in it apart from that? It's already obsolete since most of the programs on cable are 1080i. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
