It's definitely back at the $142.99 price at Best Buy. There were plenty of DTG serial #'s at my local stores. There were also a lot of 10% coupon (exp 1/31/2008) in the address change pack found at US Postal Office. I just pluged it in the USB port and confirmed that it's the Hitachi HTS722020K9SA00. I'll swap this out on my ThinkPad X61. Good find guys! |

I checked 2 BB Stores, Signal Hill,CA had no DTG Serial Number Hitachi Drives, The Lakewood Store had 3, I purchased 1. I didnt have the coupon with me, but I asked if they would apply the coupon if I came back tommorrow and they said OK. They are still selling at $142.99. I was cheerfully credited $15.16 today when I brought back the coupon. Just a heads up, on these coupons, they says that the 10% off is off of regular prices. Most of the time they dont enforce it, but occasionally, you get someone who wont do it, Ive been lucky so far. |

I had that same thought, but it turns out the 160GB were 5400rpm. The serial numbers are totally different though (starts with S). If you could find a DTG 160GB or figure out the numbering scheme, it's possible some of them are. SJJ's are 5400rpm. Any1 have success deciphering the code for the 160gbs? They are $90 ...Text |

well, even if they are, 160GB are actually slower. You can check the data sheet (876Mbps on 100/200, 695Mbps on all other models = more than 25% faster in sustained rate on the 100/200 models than the other 7k200). Anyway, the deal is back perhaps (I dunno if I can use the 10% coupon). BEFORE coupon it is $130, so it is even better now I will grab one tonight to replace my 7k200 100GB (that will go to fleabay, of course) with it. Perhaps I may get two... at least I can do RAID-0 with my 2nd HDD bay (that's SATA-IDE) on my laptop. |
