WDEagle said:I had 3 certificates left to one of our favorite local restaurants. We had to used all 3 before the month ended or they would expire. I used one for dinner. As we walked out of the restaurant a family of tourists stopped us and asked us if we recommend the restaurant. We said we did and would give them a certificate to use. They used it the same night and it worked fine (as indicated by the email that we got). I later used the 3rd certificate the same month.Wouldn't the right thing for the restaurant have been to tell them it was great and let them pay full price? |

ladderless said:You are stuck looking for $10 deals (There are a lot of those by me, but I've never gotten any)The $10 certificates are typically for lunch, and most have a minimum purchase of $15, so they're a decent deal. You just need to find one near where you'll be for lunch. |

You can give it away of course, but that would technically be your one use for the month for that account.Do you have any indication that they have any way of tracking this? There is nothing on the certificate. I don't think that most restaurants call to check on validity (and if they do, they'd just tell them that it is valid). The restaurants do not collect anything for using it, so restaurant.com does not track their use (note that YOU have to tell them that it is used). |

please can anyone explain the procedure? It means you have to spend $35 or more (before tax and tip) and then you give them the certificate and they take $25 off. What's so difficult to understand? The most important thing is to read the requires, such as the $35. If it says it's valid certain days, only use it on those days, etc. |

please can anyone explain the procedure? You spend $3 for a $25 certificate which requires a minimum purchase of $35/2 entrees. You and another person go out to eat, order 2 entrees off the menu plus whatever else (appetizers, dessert, etc). This is just one example:
Let's suppose each entree is $14 x 2= $28 Two sodas $4 Share a dessert $4 Total cost= $36 plus tax- $25certificate= $11 plus tax (say 6%) on $36 ($2.00) and tip on $36 ($6)= $19.00 out of pocket cost to you. So a dinner that would normally cost you $44 with tax and tip costs you $22 with tax and tip when you add in the cost of the $3 certificate.
You can click on the MENU tab for each restaurant that interests you to see their offerings and price range to see what you can expect when you dine out.

Actually yes Bill, because after you dine and redeem, you are sent an e-mail survey to fill out about how your rate your meal and the restaurant (service, etc.). So they can if they want to, know you've dined there for the month and refuse a subsequent certificate. Not saying they would, but it is tracked.

I have gotten some of those but I thought they were related to my marking the certificate as used. And I did not get one for a certificate that I used recently, and I know the restaurant called to check validity on that one. |

I have been to some stinkers that were on restaurant.com or in the entertainment book. But sometimes the food is great, but not enough people know about it. I just picked up several gift certificates so hopefully there are some good ones in there! |

That restaurant.com doesn't have any of our favorite restaurants listed... the few listings are all mama&papa deli shops... no wonder it's selling for 70% off... |

My wife and I have been using these coupons for a while... It's been a great way to explore new places.
The problem is, many of the restaurants sell out the first day of each month. I've started buying restaurant.com certficates when they go on sale toward the end of the month, and then using those to buy the individual restaurant certificates the first of each month. Newbie question. What do you mean by the last sentence -- i.e. how do you do that? Can you do it for every restaurant that you have the restaurant.com's certificate? Or only some? And what is the difference, in practical terms, between restaurant.com's cert. and the individual restaurant's cert? Also, if I buy the restaurant.com cert. now, it is only good until 10/31/2007? And do I need to install special software in order to print restaurant.com's certificate? TIA |

For all the people confused about restaurant.com...... simply replace the word certificate with coupon and it might start to make more sense. They use the word certificate to confuse people. Most people feel better buying a gift certificate rather than a coupon. What they're really selling are coupons.. coupons that for the most part have lots of terms and conditions so make sure you read the "fine print" |
