I completed check out and was charged $99 for the Toshiba HD-DVD player. now in my order status it shows 2 HD-dvd players. One is the A2, and it says quantity 0. The other just shows the SKU, which when i looked up was the A3. Did they give me an A3 for $99??

OMFG! My order shows exactly the same thing! If they actually ship the HD-A3, this will turn out to be the best deal of all these deals. Clearly better than the HD-A2 for $99 at WalMart, because the HD-A3 comes with two free movies in the box.

Also clearly better than the HD-A3 from BB for $199 with two extra free movies besides those in the box.

exactly how did you do this? which products did u add to the cart? can you explain a bit?

thanks!
yeah, i would like to know 2. a2 came up empty/not available/etc. on bb.com for me so how was it possible to even add to cart?

can someone help me with a slightly technical question - i am very confused abt this bitstream/pcm etc etc etc...

here is my situation - i have a denon avr2807 (which has 2 hdmi-in and 1 out)...if i connect the hd-a3 to this receiver using hdmi, will i get everything (audio-wise) that this player has to offer? i heard somewhere that if i am going to use optical-out then the hd-a2 is better, but if i am going to use hdmi, then is the hd-a3 better?

sorry for rambling - and would appreciate a knowledgeable answer...

thanks for reading!

Short version, if the Denon can playback bitstream PCM and is HDMI 1.1 or higher...

first of all - thanks a ton eugovector; now can someone help me again - can the avr2807 do this?

HD-DVD PLAYER HDA3

Wow! This just keeps getting better. When you go in for pickup, you should pick up two additional HD-DVDs and see if they ring up free at the register.

Let us know if this works.

It doesn't list the price anywhere on the confirm, so I can just walk in and get it!!! and id ont have to worry about it being cancelled!!!
Did you just say "I'd like to change my order to pick-up" or did you explain the backordered situation?

My process. I used the google cached website for the A2. I added it to the cart, but it said the item was not added to my cart. But the check out option and the price of $99 was still there, so i clicked checkout and went through with the process, figuring at worse they would just cancel my order. Then little while later i went to check my order status, and i saw what i posted, 2 dvd players. THe A2 with quantity 0, and the SKU of the A3 with quantity 1. so i called BB, asked to change it to In store since the A3 through online was backorder. they did. i got the confirm saying its ready for pickup and clearly says A3 on there. and no mention of the price. i should still be able to get the 2 free dvds in store too. so i think i can still get all 9 dvds for $106 after tax for an A3!

He told me it was backordered. SO i said yes but I saw it was available in store so can i change it. he said sure, took my zip, found a store, and did it. dont explain anything or mention anything about an A2. be vague as possible.

Please let us know if you are actually able to do this. My only concern is that you said the confirmation for instore pickup did not mention a price. I am concerned that they will want to charge you $199 when you get to the store.

I don't think there is a way to get the cached page for the A2. If someone is able to find this, please post a link. Thanks!

Also, does Best Buy scan the product with in-store pickup or just the order confirm? A lot of places basically just ring you up again "officially" which would not get you the lower price.

Finding the google cache page is easy. But they've now disabled the ability to add it to your cart off the cached page with the OLD SKU (they've changed the SKU on their site to reflect the original $399 price now). It gives "We're sorry, but currently this product is sold out. Thank you for interest, and please try us next time!"

DEAL DEAD (to get it for $99 that is)

The cached page is still there, but when you click "Add to Cart", you go to a page that says "Product Sold Out".

That is my concern. That's why I want djalap to be my guinea pig!

I was told on three different calls to BB that they can not change it to in store pickup since it is in process for shipping... They all did say the estimated delivery date was 11/4-11/6, anyway after the 3rd call I gave up and hope for the best.
