...@ my local Target Store

Currently priced $800. Employee was stacking a lot in front and told me the price on Friday. I have the same TV and picture is crystal clear, bright and sharp, compared to my Panasonic Plasma px60u model(

It has a QAM tuner which lets me get unscrambled HD and Digital channels without a box (for those who doesn't want an extra cable box ruining the look fo a hanging flat panel on the wall)

This was in Serramonte Taget, Daly City, CA, BTW.

The Good:
PC input, Almost no glare (matte screen), Qam tuner, LCD, picture quality

The not so good:
Unusable w/o remote (takes forever to change channel w/o it), Thicker than most LCD of this size. Takes a long time to boot. Blue stanby light is so bright, we can't sleep (in our bedroom, had to cover with electric tape)

Anyone know if Target will offer 10% off with a Target CC application on BF?

Anyone know how Olevia is about handling warranty issues? Just curoius

The blue led light on the unit can be turned through the tv's menu.

according to the Amazon review, the LED light can be turned off in the menu options.

There isn't an option in my menu.

Edit:

I have the V series. This is the T series.

Mine doesn't have that option, maybe I have to upgrade firmware. I got mine around 6 months ago. Thanks for letting me know.

Can you buy it now, then price match it on Friday?

I think that's gonna be YMMV no matter what the answer is. Some people report from some stores employees telling them they will, some other stores/employees/managers saying that BF is special and they will not. On top of that you have to worry about trying to do a return/rebuy if there's a problem and them possibly not letting you immediately rebuy the TV due to demand and people in the store.

I think you're better off asking a specific store and manager yourself in person now (and possibly recording it) because there's no way your store is going to change their mind based on you telling them someone in another state got the manager in their local store to do it.

Nice, I am going to try to get this. Thanks OP, green your way.

I recently had to have my 537h tv serviced under warranty by Olevia. Overall it went fairly well but not perfect. The hold times were reasonable but could be better and over all it was resolved fairly quickly other than a rep apparently lying to me and telling me they had received my fax for Proof of Purchase when they hadn't which resulted in a big delay on getting my replacement TV. Tech support wasn't bad over all and they spoke english well. CS definitely seemed to be outsourced someplace and I had some definite problems understanding them but only had to speak to them since I selected the option about power problems against my better judgement. They have a silly master power button on the back that causes a lot of people to think their TV is broke so they try to route those to CS instead of TS it seems. Since my TV has an on-site warranty they just shipped out a replacement TV and picked up the old one at the same time. It is dependent on them having a company in the area that can handle it (didn't use UPS or Fed-ex) but was a really nice option. Overall would have taken less than 2 weeks to get a replacement TV and didn't have to cover any shipping costs or even require a hold on a credit card.

Assuming this is the version of the tv that has the same on-site warranty I would say it's a pretty good warranty. If it's not the on-site warranty then you would have to ship it to them and wait for it to get repaired/replaced. I'm not sure about shipping costs or what would happen if you didn't have the box still since I didn't have to deal with either of those issues.

Overall i'd rate it as not a perfect tv but a very good value. The remote does suck and the Tv uses new codes so pretty much only going to work with universal remote that are upgradable in some way. Discrete input selection is possible with a properly setup universal remote and a new enough firmware which was a nice addition from a firmware update. The menu's are a little odd and strange to use but still functional. I now wish I could disconnect the built in speakers but thats a minor issue.

I believe all T series, both 1366X768 and 1920X1080 models have inhome service. The 2,3,4 series ending in H,V I believe are sendaway warranty service. The Olevia website doesn't confirm the inhome warranty on 2 series 'T' models but people have claimed they read that off the actual materials that came with their TVs

This seems hot to me. I'm glad to see the prices falling to this level. I may actually get in the market some day.

Can you change the title to 720P!

If the resolution is 1366X768 it is NOT 1080i.

It only accepts 1080i.

i have the 42 and 32in from last bf, black friday, not boyfriend. i like my tv but i hate, hate, hate the response time to change the source. if you want to go from say, video1 to hdmi, you have to press the source button like 9times, v1,v2,v3,s1,s2,componet1,componet2, tuner, hdmi, and it takes like 30sec and because the response time is so crappy i sometimes hit it one extra time which brings be back to v1 and i have to start over.
other then that, the tv is a heavy unit (for it's size) and deep. the bright led, Which i like cause it's like a nite lite for the livin room, i can't complain, since i only paid, like 350 for the 32 and 800 for the 42. if i had to buy it again i probably won't get the 42in.
one more thing, on the 32in, when changing source or channel, sometimes when you press it once notthing happens but when you go and press it again it jumps twice, which is very annoying.

hey you don't have to cover with electric tape.
hit menu go to setup and tv then led settings
turn it off
have a nice sleep

I have this TV. This is a great TV with no obvious defects, such as banding in Sharp Aquos and ghosting in Sony. A lot of complaints are frivolous, like bright blue LED (can be turned off or covered up) or changing input sources, which is common for other brands also. A logitech harmony remote makes everything much easier.

That's nice of you.

Get a harmony remote and make sure the firmware is up to date and you should be able to do discrete input selection. I updated my 537h and it's great to be able to switch between HDMI and Component 1 directly since those are the only 2 inputs I'm using now. It's possible with other remotes too but harmony is the easiest and safest bet.

are the BF target prices going to be online too? Or do I have to do the bullshit waiting at the B&M door thing?

is this the best deal on a 37 inch LCD this BF?
Overall I'm disapointed about the sales this year...I havent seen anything better other than the BB deal where you have to return a whole bunch of stuff.

I have Olevia 437V for almost a year.

With Cox standard cable input, it detects local HD channel and some addition HD Channel impressively.

There is "DISPLAY" button on remote which will tell you what current resoultion is playing. I do get 720p for some channels and 1080i for some channels.

Exactly my question. A 37" Olevia 337H was $499 AR at Microcenter last year. And nothing to even match it, let alone beat it a YEAR later ? WTF, am sleeping in. Let the revellers have their way.

I don't think we're going to see last year's HOT deals for some time (well, at least not this year).

I got in on the Olevia 532H for $300 (AR/ACB) during last year's Microcenter BF.

$510 + $40 (tax) = $550 OTD
- $150 MC rebate
- $100 BoA WorldPoints CashBack
----------------------------------
$300 for a 32" 720p LCD!!!

I was hoping for something similar for a 37" this year, but nothing.
$500 (after 10% off) + ~$40 (tax) is warm at best.

On the side, it doesn't seem as if any stores are offering any CC sign-up bonuses this year (except Target, which is standard) either.

What happened to that other string of messages that someone had going where they talk about buying it now and price matching? Seems to have gone into that dark corner with all of the other FatWallet socks.

Your guys forget one key point: most electronics made oversea and $$$ is so weak.
What retailer can do? $$$ 20% weaker means retail price almost 20% higher. last year BF $500, almost eqauls to $600 BF this year.

I got the 237V version of this last year, and I paid more on a Black Friday deal. This 237T model even has a third component while mine has just two. Not a single issue with mine at all though.

Which harmony are you talking about (525;676;880...)? Are they really as expensive as I'm seeing on Fleebay/ $79 - 222?

Skipping 243 Messages...

$1050 now at Target. Why in the world would anyone pay THAT amount for this TV?
