That's one of my funniest typos ever. Gosh, was that funny! it's item # 17118, with no Grandpa and the dog in the chair bonus I'm afraid. Thanks for pointing that out and for the laugh!
Item number is correct, but not showing on Boscov's website, so probably B&M only.
There a link in quick summary to the set model number on sale @ Amazon to learn more about specs, reviews, etc.

I'm assuming the item is in-store only? That number doesn't come up on the site fwiw.

I have the 50" version of this television and it is FANTASTIC. A friend of mine went with me to CC and we hooked up a BR player to this tv and the 1080p version and the 2 of us couldn't really tell the difference between the two sets. It wasn't worth it for me to spend the extra $700 just to get the 1080p tv (at least not at 50").
I just got mine last week at Boscov's for $999 on sale-$50 for signing up for Boscov's charge card=$950, and THAT is a great price. If you can score one of these I highly recommend it. We just got our DirecTV HD installed, and it is AWESOME, even at 720p and 1080i. The 77u is an upgrade from the 75u and features an anti-glare coating on the screen-it works! Looks just like an LCD screen-absolutely no glare or reflections.

It appears the 50" is $999 and the 42" is 799. The 50" is an "all-day" doorbuster while the 42" is a 5am-1pm, though I assume they will sell out earlier than that. I had never even heard of Boscovs and just discovered there are a few near me in the mid-atlantic, which is nice because I was eyeing the microcenter deal for 200 more.
What a sham. The so-called "All Day Doorbuster" Panasonic 50" plasma was sold out in seconds. They had a meager 50 of them in the store I went to. I went in at 6:120 AM and they were long gone. There was a line of over 200 people inside the store to buy the 42" which they may have still had if you wanted to wait on line for 2-3 hours while the 3-4 sales people slowly rang up each transaction. I learned my lesson. Online transactions only.

Sounds like you should have gotten up earlier.
No clowny, the ad states "All Day doorbuster" for the 50". That would suggest there was a quantity available. Perhaps not all day long, but longer then an hour and 20 minutes. I think one of the other posters was correct. Now is not the time to buy a flat panel TV. After the Super Bowl these retailers will be strapped with inventory.

50? My local store had only 30. That was the deal of the day. I didn't go there at 6:00AM but got to the store about 8:00AM. The line had about 40 people inside the store (pretty organized if you ask me). They had plenty of 42" left when it was my turn. I was told the 50" sold out in 5 minutes after store opened. Picked up two 42" and signed up for Boscov's charge to get another $100 off.

I would say then that based both on your experience and mine that the ad was somewhat in error. The 50" was supposed to be the "All day doorbuster" and the 42" the limited time doorbuster. Seems like they had a much larger supply of the limited time doorbuster(5AM-1:00PM) and very few of the "all day" 50".
My Boscovs (Exton, PA) was insane. The line went through the store, and it took over two hours to get one of the 42". They sold out of the 50" about an hour in, and I was in the last 10 to get a 42". I heard a manager say on the phone that they sold around 500 between the two, and with the length of the lines I beleive it.

Then why not have the smaller, cheaper one listed as the "All Day Doorbuster"? I'm not disappointed, although a Panasonic 50" plasma for $1000 is a hot deal, there will be plenty more deals in the very near future because retailers will take a hit this season. I think the time to look for a decent LCD or plasma is the President's Day sales events. By then, Super Bowl hysteria will have settled and inventory will need to move.

I would never assume that a BF "all day doorbuster" would last any time at all. I would assume that I needed to line up long before the store opened to get one if it were a hot item like these tv's.

As mentioned earlier, the 42 is a great set at a fantastic price. If you can still get one, go for it. Sadly, I got 2 about a month ago for $999 but even that was a great price. I spent a lot of time reading reviews on this set and could not find a negative. Good hunting!

I was in line at the Boscov's in Delaware for their "all day" doorbuster. I was about the 40th person in line and by 5:15 am they sold out of all the 50" and only had about (30) 42" Tv's left. The crowd was very angry including me. I then tried to price match at some stores in the area bu they just laughed and said we heard about the Boscov thing already!

I don't wait in lines like that knucklehead. I'm not part of the clock punching ilk like you. As another poster stated they were gone by 0515 hrs. That's 15 minutes after they opened the doors. So, as I stated originally, it was a sham. I'll get whatever TV I want for a great price. Just not this weekend. You can keep waiting on lines bright and early and tell us how much fun you had.

I was one of the idiots that stood in line (1st in line) and was able to get the 50" Panny for $999. My first HDTV ... am hooking it up later tonight. I hear it's a great tv!

Good for you for not waiting in line like that. You also don't get the tv you wanted.
I didn't wait in any lines. I'm just not dumb enough to think that all-day doorbusters are going to be available all day long. IF I wanted one of these tv's, I would have gotten there at midnight with all the other fools. It's not worth it to me. Maybe you learned something.

You deserve to be able to buy the TV is you stood in line the night before. If this is your first HDTV, chances are it will not look that good until you feed it an HD signal.

Indeed I did learn something. I learned that you are a knucklehead that didn't want a nice TV.
