Sadly, there are a handful of times I really wished I had a USB floppy drive. No way I'm going to give up a drive bay or get a laptop with a floppy drive but still ... there's never a drive when you actually need one. Nice to have an external USB guy laying around. Still, not gonna camp out for it |

thebigreddog said:By far the best BF sale for computer related items. I was in two minds whether to upgrade my PC or not, but looking at what $500 buys you (all at Fry's), I think I'm going to take the plunge. A Quad-core with 4GB ram/300GB harddrive and 22" LCD for $500 is hard to pass up..... I dont know if all the components are compatible with one another, I guess I'll pick them up first and then ask the question before paying for them.
Case: MYSTIQUE 632S mid tower case - $0 (50-50 MIR) Power supply: Antec 500W power supply - $7 (42-35) Motherboard: ECS 671T-M - $198.99 CPU: Intel®-Core 2 Quad Q6600 (bundled with motherboard) - $0 Memory: OCZ DDR2 PC6400 4GB (4x1GB) - 39.98 (119.98-80) Hard disk: Maxtor 300GB SATA drive - 49.99 Video card: EVGA GeForce 6400 256MB - $0 (50-50) CD/DVD drive: 18x INTERNAL DVD±RW DRIVE - $14.99 (34.99-20) Keyboard: Inland Pro 9000 keyboard - $0 (4-4) Mouse: BTC Optical mouse - $2.99 Speakers: Inland PC speakers - $2.99 Monitor: 22" widescreen LCD - $139.99 (189.99-50) Printer Canon printer (bundled with LCD) - $0 Operating System: Vista Home premium OEM - $99.99
TOTAL : 556.91 (After $289 in MIR) which page do you see the quad cpu? only see dual core with abit. RAM limits 2gb per person. |

The E6750 deal isn't too hot by itself, you'll save maybe $30 after taxes compared to Newegg. The 2gb OCZ ram is a real nice deal though- you will save $20 OTD, and then about $60AR. So if you wait in line for that, and grab the E6750 deal + whatever other items you need it becomes worthwhile I suppose. The E6850 deal is great though because you'll save about $80AR. Both deals are good overclockers according to Newegg reviews. Any other thoughts? Too bad no good video card deals (8800GTS? ) |

Two deals that are interesting but overlooked, the Belkin 1500VA UPS for $50 AR, and the Canon Laser Copier/Printer for $30 AR. I know that many people are spoiled by the APC units that were on sale awhile back at OD, and the clearance deals on the APCs at BB, but that is still nothing to sneeze at for a 1500VA. Considering the fact that we give lots of green to deals like $30 for a measly 500VA or 550VA UPS, $50 AR for a 1500VA should be equally exciting. And the Canon copier is a nice deal, despite the huge rebate, because unlike some of the past clearance deals on laser copiers, this one actually has a USB port and can be used as a laser printer. Many of the laser copiers I've seen posted about are copiers only, with no printer functionality. |

Chicagoland Fry's ad was just 2 pages in todays Tribune. Some of the deals are the same as the ad posted here (like the Quad core intel/mobo deal) but many others are missing. |

Man, this is going to get ugly when the store opens and the horde descends upon 3822487. I hope they get out vouchers for this or should I just start camping out at noon today? To those who are lucky, watch your carts closely, someone else might steal it from you... |
