Amazon invoices show the ship and order date. Thanks and Thanks OP--green for you--this is great deal to get Office 2008 for $30.

... posting revised ... I've done the heavy lifting and posted the real deal in the summary. ========= Home and Student Edition is the same as the full version of Office 2008, except minus the Exchange and Automator support that comes with the regular version of Entourage (if you're truly using it at home, then you probably don't need that Exchange support anyway). It allows for three licenses for non-commercial use, and will retail for $149.95.

To reiterate what was said before, if you've got a $20, $25, or $30 coupon, it seems that Staples is the best deal: 572422 The software ends up essentially FAR. BTW, does anyone know if Staples carries any Mac software in-store? |

BTW, does anyone know if Staples carries any Mac software in-store? I've never seen any, except for the cross-platform stuff. Staples may be a better deal IF you're one of the lucky ones with a $ off coupon... I haven't had one in ages. And if you account for tax, which is 9.5% here. |

jonnashville said:Note that the $49.99 in the OP is for the Home and Student edition only. Yes, but that's not what the deal is really about. When it comes time to upgrade to Office 2008, you can opt for the Special Media Edition, which does include Exchange support. Buying 2004 is just a means to an end, so it doesn't matter. |

The full upgrade version of Office 2004 (which still buys you a ticket for Office 2008) is $205 out the door before the rebate.
The end game: full version vs home/student version of 2008, after all is said and done, is $80. Wrong. Read the "Super Suite Deal" upgrade offer. It's not the standard upgrade- you can turn a Home and Student 2004 license into a "Special Media Edition" 2008 license-- including exchange, automator and all that good stuff. |

It's strange, but I get $30off$150 laminated cards sent to me via postal mail all the time. I can even take these cards and use them in-store. I also get $20off$100 and $25off$100 coupons sent via email all the time. I never have to deal with any of that eBay crap. I'm not sure what the formula is that causes some folks to get a lot of coupons, and others to get none. |

After digging into the verbiage on the PDF, I stand corrected. However, this deal has not been explained well in either the OP or the following posts, and nobody has bothered to put it in the summary. It just mentions Office 2008. Don't get up. I'll do it. Too much turkey digesting for people to think straight, or am I supposed to be psychic??? |

jonnashville said:However, this deal has not been explained well in either the OP or the following posts... I agree that the original post is now meaningless. It needs to be rewritten. This deal would get more attention if it was changed to specifically reference Office 2008 with Amazon.com as the primary deal for $30 AR, and then a mention of Staples as the secondary, potentionally FAR deal with a coupon. |

This was 3.1415926 eons ago and old news, but basically Apple was not doing to well business wise. Microsoft was freshly being sued for anti competitive behavior, and decided to invest $100m in Apple and give them a shot in the arm. Net result to keep them afloat as a straw competitor. Fast forward to today, Apple is actually a competitor now. And Vista is... ... ... ... Go figure. |

If anybody is wondering, Newegg is using Mountain time (is that the one that's 2 hours earlier than Eastern?). I just placed an order and it showed 11/22 11:29pm so I cancelled it. |

Ordered this morning and mine has already shipped. Amazon invoices show the order date (eg: "Your Order For November 23") rather than the ship date, so there should be no problem with the rebate. What a deal! |
