"Save $100 today only on Office 2004 Student Teacher Edition (blah blah) includes technology guarantee of 2008 for 6.99US/10.00CAN. Offer valid only 11/23/2007"
Probably online too, but who knows. The clerks all told me that they had just set up BF a bit too early.
Seems by far the cheapest way to upgrade!
edit: seems some people got quite ornery--turns out I was flying home--about the time I'd spent not editing the OP. Edited for Amazon.com title and price and possibility that they won't ship in time.

The deal below has it's own thread with more concise and updated info in the OP:LINK
Upgrade form to upgrade any version of Office 2004 to the Special Media Edition for $6.99 when released, which is $475 at Amazon.
$100 Rebate for any Office 2004 edition for purchases on Friday, November 23 only.
Cheapest route, even if you have 2004 already: Buy 2004 Student and Teacher for $125 at Amazon. Or, Staples is a good bet, too, IF you have coupons and tax is taken into consideration. Staples link
NOTE: Rebate must be postmarked by 12/23. Currently Amazon is quoting delivery after that date.

Yeah, this should be eligible for upgrade to 2008 Special Edition. Hopefully I can get this online because I don't have any apple stores nearby. Thanks for the heads up.
All of these points are valid, but many of us have to use Office at work and this is a cheap (not free, I understand that) way to have a compatible format with MS Office 2007 for Windows.
It's a MS rebate! This is SMOKING HOT. You get the special media edition of office 2008 when it comes out, not just the student and teacher edition. (http://www.microsoft.com/mac/go/promotions/supersuitedeal/)
Final price is $31.98 after rebate to have Office 2008 for mac, which will sell for several hundred dollars when it is released in January. Even if you already have Office 2004 (as I do), it makes sense to buy it again now for only $24.99 as you will get the free upgrade to 2008. The deal is only good tomorrow, Black Friday, but at least you won't have to deal with any lines since you can buy it online from Amazon.
Hope this is of interest to you, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Actually, it appears that the $100 rebate requires the front page of the user guide and the 2008 upgrade requires the box top...I don't see where they're asking for any UPC code unless I'm missing something. I guess the box top has the UPC on it, but the $100 only mentions the booklet page.
Yea i just noticed that. Im debating now, I would like to get 2 copies. Anyone know if the rebate is specific to Apple Store only, or can Staples qualify.
