EXPIRED: ONE DAY ONLY. You must buy Microsoft Office 2004 Black Friday. The 2008 upgrade you get from Microsoft is the full version with added media capability. Get this $100 rebatevalid Friday only.
NOW EXPIRED: Buy Microsoft Office 2004 Student and Teacher before January 14 2008 at Amazon for $125 (or Staples for $130; potentially FAR @ Staples with coupons). Or, buy it at any other authorized Microsoft retailer (these 2 are simply the cheapest and easiest). Must buy retail boxed version; no OEM. This software is not just for students and teachers; it's simply a slightly crippled version of the full product.
Total out of pocket $140 or less unless you bought Office on Black Friday.
Note that Staples does not normally stock Mac Office in B&M stores, so on line is probably your best bet.
The 2008 upgrade is the most robust version available... will work with enterprise Exchange and give you full Apple Automator capabilities. The 2008 Home and Student version will not, so this is an excellent deal. Microsoft Product link.
I already have 2004, but will be buying it again just to get 2008 cheap.
I wouldn't be expecting too much bad behavior from MS on something like this, but the $100 rebate asks for the front page of the user manual. I bought Student Teacher 2004 a long time ago, but don't recall that there was any paper manual. It was a disc in semirigid sleeve in a box. Maybe the current versions have one?
Every FAR filler in the ad is in-store only and they probably wont have this software in store. Anyone know if there are some other FAR fillers that aren't advertised?

I'm guessing EST since thats the time their coupons expire.

this is great for teacher as for students yea if they're not trying to download though a torrent lol....
Coupons are rare, and Fleabay ones are usually bogus or fraudulent (and which can get you blacklisted at Staples, or your order canceled), so don't get up up in the FAR aspect unless you already have a valid coupon.

Never had an issue with Staples coupons from eBay. Just buy from the users who use instant shipping and that have over 1000 feedback (there are plenty). I've used probably a dozen or two of these coupons and have not been blacklisted, if you're worried about it too much then just make a new account for each order, you actually might have to do this because they limit you to one coupon with the same first 5 digits per account.
You can get a 25 off 100 coupon right now, better than having to add fillers to use the 30 off 150 coupon.

These versions are available to anyone, does not matter if you are not a student or teacher. It just means they are personal licenses, and not business licenses.

A S30 off coupon would make your net cost $0.

Anybody know the minimum system requirements (esp. processor) for Office 2008? I've got G4s (1.33 GHz AlBook, 1.25GHz Albook and a 20" Imac). Also, if you get 2004, can you leave it one system and put 2008 on another, or do they share the same ID (an issue if they are on the same network)? Thanx!
thanks for the heads up OP, I too own Student 2004 but will rebuy to get this deal!

thank god...the (*.docx) format was driving me insane (an all the students/teachers/faculty who suffered from that ridiculous format change) between office 2007 for Windows and everyone else using the current and soon to be outdated 200X/XP/97
I hope the software works better than Microsoft's order fulfillment system!
I ordered the Home and Student Edition (instead of the Special Media Edition) because it fit my needs better. I sent in my free upgrade request some time in February, don't remember the exact date. On March 24th I received an e-mail confirming my order. On March 25h I received an e-mail telling me it was back-ordered but still showed an estimated ship date of 3/25. Last night, 4/2, I received an e-mail telling me my order had been delayed and that the product was expected to be shipped on April 14th. The e-mail said I could do nothing if I wanted them to ship if it was available by 4/14 or select option 1 to cancel my order, or select option 2 if I wanted them to ship my order even if it didn’t ship until after 4/14. I figured the "do nothing" option was a trick since that would tell them to cancel if they didn't ship by 4/14. I selected option 2. At 4:40am this morning I received an e-mail notifying me that my status had been changed and that the item was in stock and that it would ship on 4/3. Great! However, later this morning I received an e-mail acknowledging my response to their e-mail sent last night. They apologized for the delay. I then checked my status online it still shows it is backordered but also shows that it was to ship on 4/3 by Airborne. Huh? Well, finally, tonight it shows that it has been shipped by DHL from Ohio. I just hope they are sending the correction version!
