I just ordered one with the car adapter and the 10% coupon code for right around $30 shipped. I figure it will be at least something fun to mess around with.
I chatted with a CSR and apparently the $60 units include all map regions, and all accessories listed on the $30 page.
[4:21:04 PM] me says: so i understand the one item includes the pda, software, etc and the cf card for $60 and the other has no cf gps card for $30. i'm wondering though which maps are included/activated the wp100 is regional. the wp105 is national. [4:23:07 PM] AmperorDirect.com Sales says: ok... there is software included (map loader)... that will take you through the process of downloading the maps you want
[4:23:10 PM] me says: and why isnt the "map activation" and "car mount" options available with the higher priced product, but only the "pda only" for $30? are they included? [4:23:19 PM] AmperorDirect.com Sales says: the $60 version has all included
I can't figure out if this comes with basic PDA software, like the calendar function? I see it uses 2003 and has outlook and explorer but it doesn't say anything else
Thanks OP, IN 4 1! Got the straight PDA to experiment with. The GPS CF card solution was something I was using years ago. Not worth dealing with a clunky setup like that now when you can get nice integrated GPS unit for <$100.
Supposedly this runs straight Windows Mobile 2003, so hopefully I'll be able to get it to talk to ActiveSync.
Thanks, wfay. I'm kinda torn between buying this, or the $75 Pharos from Newegg- and hoping it can be hacked to become a pda. Any suggestions (I'm not a IT person, though, so I can't hack a gps on my own).

Hacking a GPS can't give you a PDA. Without those useful buttons and other feature, it is not that fun to use a hacked GPS. I hacked my mio c320. It's OK, but I am still using my old axim x30.

It should, as long as Windows drivers are available. From the picture I cannot tell who's gps they are using.
If you are purchasing it just for the cf gps then I'd recommend getting a BT card and a BT gps. Not much difference in the price. The WAAS cf version is several years old and you will likely be required to use an attached antennae extender unless your laptop is perched on top of the dash to get a decent gps signal.

Good. I was looking for an excuse not to buy this. I already have a pocketpc with built-in gps, and was having a hard time passing on this because of the price.

('TYL...' coupon worked great BTW.)
I have a spare CF BT and a BT GPS already. Not bad for $30 and there shouldn't be a problem to use other GPS software right? I mean it has access to the other applications which most PDAs GPS unit limit.
Pretty fast, how they they bumped the price for the bundle to $80+ ?
I bought the PDA only. Hopefully it'll be good enough for writing notes, that I can later transfer to a PC. Does anyone know if this PDA has something like Graffiti (palm)? Thanks to all who helped me avoid the GPS "bundle".
And Thank you, OP. Hadn't purchased any gadgets for myself over 4+ months, so I pulled the trigger.
I am glad the price went up! I won't be tempted now! Must resist GPS!

Then you click on the item and it increases? It's not worth doing business with them. I for see no resolutions if you have any issues with this item. ...Now they updated the price screen finally, I think I'll pass on this company...too bad for them I had been looking at Skype stuff too.

R they going to ship the waypoint 100 or the 105. If they ship 100, then it is just regional i.e. u have to pay money to get the maps for all states! I ordered it for 53+ using the 10% coupon!

Well the last Pocket Pc I had some type of writing recognition... I assume they still do...
I am already having buyers remorse after reading that second review posted.. LOL

Why don't you try chatting with their CSRs? Either way, my take is that only the first map is free. I just bought it for the PDA.
No sure about this... but I confirmed that my old serial GPS will work just fine with the PDA only. That rocks!

Has anyone managed to load Windows 5.0 or 6.0?
I bought the PDA only and would like to ditch the GPS software to give me more memory. Has anyone done this?
