Free Westell Gateway (N*) $0.0 Once Free Westell Modem* $0.0 Once Free Westell Gateway (N*) w/$2.49/mo Service Plan $0.0 Once I just chose the first option... whats a westell Gateway vs modem vs last choice???? Wasn't sure if the last choice charges u extra or not. I hope I got the right one. |

yeah, i just called and complaint to verizon. right now we have 768 up @17.99 He offered 19.99 for 3mb X 6 months then 29.99 X 6 months Still thinking... we have camcast before it worked fine. (33.33 X 12 - 150)/12 = 20.83 would be the comcast total after a year (up to 12 down and 768 up) (19.99 X 12 + 60) / 12 = 25 what do you all think? |

I hope I got the right one. The Gateway will be a modem with built in 4 port switch and wireless router. The second choice is just the modem. Third choice is the Gateway with service plan for which you pay the monthly fee. If it breaks you can most likely do a swap out for a new unit. First choice is best for most people, but last time I checked those Gateways only used WEP encryption. Not the strongest protection, but still make sure you enable it if you are going to use the wireless or all your neighbors will be able to surf off your connection if they live close enough to you. |

so what do I do with the listed $60 rebate on router? When I ordered, the Gateway router was already free right? at least it listed for free. Did you guys buy another router or somthing from Verizon and send in the rebate? |

Any current promotion with Verizon DSL? I can get Verizon DSL at my home (confirmed through Verizon site) But, it does not show up through the Circuit City site. Any suggestions? |

DO go to verizon.com and set up your preferred account log-in name- this is PERMANENT-so be careful.
AFTER this is done, use on-line chat to get your temporary password so you can set up a PPPOE connection, with or without a router. Took me 15 mintues of chat with a rude, stupid overseas CS rep (Note: when I was grad student in physics, Ivy League school, some of the very smartest guys were from South Asia-don't be prejudiced-too bad VZ just hires idiots no matter where they are from), to get him to understand that this is for VZ itself-not the router password! Maybe you will have better luck.
Finally, back to Verizon.com, change your password to something sane. Set up a PPPOE connection with control panel so you connect w/o the router if you have to. Power on router, attach, reboot. Open browser window, go to http://192.168.1.1/, configure the router for PPPOE. Reboot and check connectivity. You are done! ********************************************************************** If it does not take too much of your time, numismatist, would you give the rest among us who are not too technically savvy a general explanation on what PPPOE is and what it can do for you to warrant so much work to install it, thanks? |

For those who ordered online, have you received a letter stating they're having trouble with the rebate? |
