Shame on you. I would have expected more from a Senior Member (and a varsity letterman). Get out! And don't come back until you've redeemed yourself...

Yeah, really. Just slip 'em a little of the cash if they miss you.

Why is no one concerned about this? It seems like it's a pretty sure shot to not work.

Because there is wide margin of error ($300 to $400). So even if they reject few rebates, you still come out ahead or in the worse case scenario break even with a free Shredder/PC.
Besides it is fun.

Please do not ask these kinds of questions...

He didn't ask you......he asked Jesus!

and WWJD?

he'd buy the whole kit n kaboodle, send in the rebates and pray!

Tarajunky said:I did the last deal online, so I didn't get the extra 20% instore. For those that did, can you tell us if they take 20% off each item individually, or do they lump it all together at the end?

Even if the rebates are strictly enforced not to exceed the purchase price, you still might be able to make that extra 20%, depending on what they decide the purchase price is.

For example, if you buy 10 software for $50 each and get a $100 discount at the bottom of the ticket(20% off), then $500 back in rebates, you still end up ahead. If they deduct 20% off each item, it might show up as paying $40 each, so you would get the $100 discount, then $400 back in rebates and come out even, depending on how the rebate house handles it.

i did it in store last time and its 20% OFF EACH ITEM and is spelled out that way on the receipt.

it didnt matter last time i got all full rebates, who knows what the diff will be this time... ?

Yeah, fun. Addiction, illness, etc., or so my sister keeps telling me (won't she be surprised to get a new laptop for Christmas...)

Because this is FW and this deal is for the rebate daredevils only!

Not true. They're not advertising a free desktop, the "free item" it's talking about is a printer. You would need to get back more than you paid for MANY of the pieces of software in order to cover the cost of the PC. Plus, that PC is worth nowhere near $400, so if you end up having to pay $400 for the comp and get all the software for free, you've pretty much been screwed.

I did this 3 times on the last crazy deal and it's a ton of work. I sold the laptops and made almost $1K for each one I did all told, but it's absolutely not worth doing for just some free software and a free shredder. I think I'm going to sit out based on what I've heard they're doing with the rebates lately.

I'm with Shakuni, it's just a lot of fun and a cool way to make some extra cash!

i dont think anybody has noticed this....
because most of these softwares are 2007 version! as far as i know....most of the Staples stores dont have these softwares any more...
they only have the 2008 version!
so good try OP!
but dead deal!!!!

I am blessed to have gotten a free laptop + $400 from the last deal.

However, I'm going to proceed with caution on this one. Parago was starting to crack down at the tail end of that deal, including some checks bouncing. If anything, I'll get in on this with a shredder to minimize my exposure.

Good point on the 07 versions, they are hard to find, were even at the end of the last deal.

I don't think that's true. Most of the rebates don't specify the particular version or specifically say the 2008 versions, but it could be a problem for some of them.

Thanks OP. Now, if a good soul would give us a spreadsheet like last time, that would be really nice. I made out good last time. I haven't received all the CA rebates though but they are trickling in. Do we need a new home address if we did it last time?

Well, someone needs to compile list of rebates that are valid with the 2007 version only. I might give it a try later tonight. When does it end?

Where are you seeing the 9650 for $1050. Lowest I have seen is $1250.
