Take another 12% off with in-store pick-up if you are a RewardZone member (it's free, no reason NOT to join) -- you should have received three coupons (one of which is 12% off GPS hardware) in the past few days, or just use the 12% Birthday coupon at:
BE SURE TO REPLACE THE WORDS "HERE" (three occurances!) IN THE URL WITH YOUR FIRST, LAST NAME, AND YOUR REWARD ZONE NUMBER (or random information). I've used this coupon multiple times recently (each time with bogus name and number) without any trouble, all on my same RZ account. props to MNFRUGALSHOPPER on fw for this coupon
$139.99 minus the 12% coupon should bring the pre-tax price to ~$123.20. I would recommend ordering online for in-store pick up, as BestBuy is well known for having different prices in store. Once you get to the store, they can apply your coupon at the time of pick-up.
This price is only $4 higher than the black friday price, so it's definitely hot IMHO. There are many threads discussing the difference between the TomTom ONE LE that BestBuy (and only BestBuy) sells, and the regular TomTom ONE 3rd Edition -- the general census is that the TomTom ONE LE is the better one to have.
i spent all of friday (seriously, ~5 hours wasted) driving all around Columbus, Ohio area and ended up trying ~14 different stores to get them to price match the $50 price mistake at toysrus for the TomTom One Third Ed. Three BestBuy stores, in my area as of Friday 12/7/07, had 5' tall neon green cardboard display units packed full of tomtom one LE's so they should have plenty in stock (especially if you wake up early)

Thanks OP. I picked up the Navigon 2100 @ Staples using a $30 off to make it $120 OTD. Reading the reviews about its sluggish performance, I may take up the TomTom as a better alternative.

What TTS modules? Where are those available? I've been reading a bunch of the GPS forums and haven't seen anyone succeed with getting a TTO LE to do TTS...
Make sure the box has a white dot next to the barcode when you buy it. The ones that have the dot apparently house firmware version 7.13 while the ones that don't, 7.11. Version 7.11 has known issues. More information can be found here.
Sweet, thanks OP. Bought this for $150 at BB, will do return/rebuy.
PS, love the GPS so far. PM me if you need a link to the TTS modules and information on how to use them. I haven't tried yet but am getting my 2GB SD card this week and will try it then. I can't confirm it to be working on the LE but I thought it was.

Not an issue for me, I got the unit with 7.11, upgraded the version from tomtom home(Software installs once connected to computer), Now I do have everything latest

Regarding the 7.11 software, yes - it's true. It has issues.
Upgrading your unit to 7.161 and including the QuickGPSfix resolves these issues though. Don't be worried about the white dot.
The upgrade is simple. Goto tomtom.com and download the latest "HOME" program. Use HOME to upgrade your unit. It's very straight forward.
BTW - The HOME software also let's you backup your unit, upgrade maps, add POI's, plan routes, etc... all using your PC.
About the following statement, how to make the remove "HERE" and put your member number? Thanks. If I bring the coupon with "HERE", will it work?

Have successfully implemented TTS in my LE. Also no problems with 7.11 out of the box. Tomtom home upgraded it and I'm now running 7.162. If you want TTS be sure to get a 2GB SD card. The internal 1GB memory will be hidden however and so far I haven't found a way to access it with the SD card present.

Will it work? Markdowns taken from regular prices. T_T
I know it has worked with the movers coupon for some people, but it seems YMMV as my BBY is very strict. But I may give it a shot.
I tried buying one at $149.99 on Friday, the first day you could use the current 12% reward zone coupon, and I was denied. I tried going to two different cashiers and finally asked for a manager override, but none of them would apply the coupon to the item, since the the item is already discounted from the regular price of $249.99. I ended up buying it anyway, since I found the last one with a white dot. I might go to a different Best Buy and try again today.

so what's the general opinion about this unit? are these better than the Garmen units or no? I ask because I have the Pioneer AVIC-D3 navigation system but it seems like some of the mapping software is way out of date. unfortunately updating the software isn't much of an option so that makes me screwed. I was thinking about buying one of these hand held units but I don't know how well these pocket sized units work.
what do you guys think?

Anybody else have problems getting the coupon to work (even if you change it to your name and RZ#)?

Anybody else have problems getting the coupon to work (even if you change it to your name and RZ#)? I wasn't trying to use the birthday month coupon that was posted. I was trying to use a coupon that was mailed to me that's good from Dec 7 - Dec 10. Although it says that discounts are taken from regular prices, it also says that it's good on GPS hardware. I even tried to argue with the manager that every GPS is on sale, so it made no sense to issue a coupon like that, but he still wouldn't budge.

don't get me wrong, the AVIC-D3 is an awesome DVD / car stereo system. unfortunately the navigation system is just "so so".

excuse my ignorance, but how is "LE" different than "3rd Edition"? Which one is better and why?

Bought one. The 12% coupon wouldn't work when scanned but the cashier was nice and overrode it. Thanks OP!
madiha said: excuse my ignorance, but how is "LE" different than "3rd Edition"? Which one is better and why?
LE is considered better than 3rd edition because it has bluetooth (not for hands free though) and a SD card slot that allows for expandability as you can add additional storage for more maps, etc.
icesamrai said: NOw the question i'm DYing to know, did u get any of them to PM to that price? Nope, unfortunately not -- I kept thinking "well surely THIS store will have them in stock and will do a price match!" but most were out of stock and the few that did have it recognized that $50 was below cost. Sears was more than happy to do the pricematch -- but they were out of stock all over town and could not place an online order w/ pricematch unfortunately.
I'm surprised that some people are having problems with the 12% coupon not working (either the 12/7 to 12/10 one that they mailed, or the 12% Birthday coupon). If you can't figure out how to put your name in the URL for the coupon, just print off the PDF that I attached (it says "Happy Birthday Reward Zone Member!" and should work just fine unless you get the most anal cashier). You do have to be a rewardzone member but it's free to join and you can join at www.myrewardzone.com and print off a temporary card if I remember correctly.
If they try to say that the coupon is not valid because the unit is on sale, just ask them nicely to override it. I've never once checked out at best buy with a coupon and had them flat out turn me away -- ask nicely and they will do it for you. Or, just ask for them to get a manager for you to speak to -- that is normally enough for them to say "ah screw it" and apply the coupon.
It's not like this 12% coupon is fake or invalid or something -- it's a real coupon, it just sounds like some people are having issues where the coupon is showing that it does not work on sale priced items (which is basically everything in store, and is a total load of bull). Ask nicely and they'll apply the price.

DId u change the name and everything?
I had an actual physical coupon that was mailed to me. It scanned but wouldn't take off any discount.

I have both and I prefer the Navigon. The text to speech feature is invaluable to me. Additionally the Navigon worked perfectly out of the box, and the TomTom couldn't find one satellite out of the box and required hours of downloads and upgrades to get it to work (it had the old version 7.11)
Wow. I still have 6 of these left from BF. Looks like I'll be returning them.

As long as you update the Tomtom LE I don't think it matters if it has a white dot on it or not. My cousin and I both bought an LE and neither one of them had a white dot. We both got version 7.11 and we both updated them and neither one of us has had a single problem with it since. I just updated to version 7.162 without any problems. The only problem I have had is with the maps having some mistakes. I have a laptop that has Navteq maps on it and the maps on it are much more accurate in my area.
One thing I hate is that it thinks the speed limit on I-75 in Ohio is 75 mph (at least in my area) when it is really 65 mph. I think that messes up alot of the routing since it always thinks that is the fastest route.
I don't want to get into the line and wait for the pickup during this shopping season. Can anyone confirm the in-store price is the same as the web price? Thanks.
Sorry all I don't have a nice step by step to do the hack. Just google those phrases I posted above and that is exactly what I used. Do a full back up of the data on the TT One LE and then follow the directions in those provided links. It took a bit of trial and error on my part but I got it working just fine. Sorry I am no more help than that but I honestly don't have an easier way to tell you how to do this. Make sure you have a 2 gig SD card since there isn't enough room to add the TTS voices that the hack requires.
