Does Turbo Tax Fed+State include free e-file for Fed and/or State returns?

They stopped free filing a year or 2 ago. I think it is something like $17 or so for Federal filing now.

Green for no drama

Previous Discussion

I read that they had e-file included for their online versions. So I assumed that it was also included in the stand-alone versions.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the coupon.

It even looks exactly the same as the other post before the OP deleted everything. The OP may want to mention that the $30 off coupon is supposed to be for a store grand opening in GA though.

Double Post.

Drama free? with the coupon dont be so sure the exp date is 1/24 (not 1/19 as per OP) and the print-out date in footer is 1/20. i can see some drama with some (former drama-queen) mgrs.

In the past two years, I used e-file provided tree throught statefarm. If you are their customer, you can login and there is a link on the life which will bring you to TurboTax.

Thanks OP and jimmywalt. I just picked up TT and Q from the local Staples. Coupon worked just fine, no questions asked. Although they charged me $44.99 for TT, I still walked out with both for ~$15 AR.

The coupon the OP linked to does expire tomorrow, 1/19/08, the footer is dated 1/12/08.

Good for those of you who got the in-store $30 coupon to work. I just got shot down at the mid-town Atlanta store on Ponce.

Edited in response to question below:
They said the coupon was invalid, after the cashier asked for a manager's help with the coupon. Upon further questioning, there was no further enlightenment other than a vague "...there are lots of invalid coupons floating around. We're sorry...".

What was their reason?

Sorry for being a noob, but what does that mean? I have a couple of empty ink carts right here. Does that make the deal "sweeter"?

Fake coupon.

does the coupon scan w/o beeping? are there other freebies w/ tax software purchase?

It is a fake coupon. It was a one weekend coupon for in-store only, valid 1/11-1/12.
That's embarrassing.

Does anyone know if we can use the deluxe version for paying taxes on stocks / options (schedule D I think)? 'cos description for Premier says that is better suited for that.

I don't need a "walk-thru" kind of time consuming questionaire if that is what Premier adds to it. But I do need the ability to
(a) import from financial instituitions directly if possible
(b) if instituition does not allow it, upload a spreadsheet I maintain with the same info
(c) if not at least a simple spreadsheet like interface to enter 10s or 100s of transactions in one page.

Does Intuit have a website with details of the version including screenshots of these pages?

I've always used online version but last year, it took me forever to enter the transactions for options etc manually in the html interface. So planning to switch to the thick client version this year which should provide better UI features, I'd think.

Great deal. Better than the one I just picked up from Amazon.com. Luckly I'm getting a little of my money back because I have a copy of Quicken basic as a result of last year's deal. I tried to sell it and nobody wanted it not even for $5. Now I can get $30 for it. If you have a copy of Quicken Basic you can apply for this rebate:

$30 Upgrade Rebate; From Quicken Basic To Quiken Deluxe

Good luck.

There are products like TradeLog and Gainskeeper which prepare schedule D. I think Tradelog offers to export it in a format which Turbo Tax can import else you have to use paper file. These are little expensive but for 100s of Txns it may be worth.

went without a hitch...thanks OP

Fake coupon.

Just got back and coupon was scanned and honored just fine,
How do you know it's fake?

Coupons and drama aside, the value of TT is how well it works. I used it for the first time last year, and I thought it did a thorough job in helping me find all the right deductions for the best overall return. Compared to some of the freebie tax options, TT was much better in my opinion. If you have simple tax issues, other options may work fine. If you have any investments, a mortgage, education and business expenses, etc., TT is very good at asking you the right questions to make sure all your bases are covered. Now, there is no way I would pay $17 to e-file, however. Last year I actually used TT to create the content of my return and then reproduced it and filed through a free online service. I'll probably do similarly this year.

Is TaxCut better or TurboTax?

Let us NOT discuss about the coupon or morals here. We did enough in the prev thread.

All grand opening coupons, outside of their intended use at a grand openings store, are fake, or technically, fraudulently reproduced. They do not exist as printable coupon. A grand opening sale in a flier advertises the discount, and then the code is applied by the cashier at the register when a purchase is made. Some clever and crafty folks use a barcode generator when they learn what the code is, and create a legitimate looking coupon that will scan if attempted. But that is not Staplez' intent for these coupons.

Just used the coupon and it worked perfectly.

Just got back from the store and was able to pick up TT Deluxe and Quicken Deluxe. Used $30 off $75 and was also able to use $15 off Quicken that was in the Costco coupon book. The $30 off went without a hitch but stumbled a bit with the $15 off Quicken coupon. He had to scan it under manufacturer's coupons to make it work, and it was actually already in the system so he didn't have to manually override or call a manager.

Bought:
TurboTax Deluxe - $39.99
Quicken Deluxe - $59.99
Sharpie Single - $1.99
Sharpie 3 pack - $3.99
Total - $105.96 (didn't include tax)

Coupons/Rebates:
$30 off $75 - $30
Costco $15 off - $15
Free 3pk Sharpie - $3.99
Rebate #1 - $30
Rebate #2 - $30
Total $108.99

I have a couple ink cartridges at home that would have made it better but forgot to bring them.

Did you forget the $15 off coupon from Costco booklet for Turbo Tax?

Great work nevertheless.

Dang it, was it in the big one they send out or something they pass out in the store? My mailed booklet had a few things cut out of it so maybe it was one of those.

Don't forget the $10 Quicken Deluxe Upgrade (from BASIC) rebate if you have prior copy of Quicken BAsic.

There is no exclusion of Staples and/or other rebate on the form.

cut and paste.

Thanks OP and jimmywalt. Worked great!

HUGE YMMV -- you might get lucky w/ Staples PM to costco

Worked for me! Used it for TurboTax & MS Money. Now I feel better about not getting the earlier deal at OD.

Ok. I have some newbie questions.
Staples takes Cost Co coupons?!

Where did you get your sharpies-free coupon?

On the ink cartridges. I read that they want HP ones. Is that it or will they ever want my Canon, Brother, Samsung...?

And where is everyone getting the $xoff/$xx amt coupons for Staples? I joined the rewards club a few month ago and haven't received anything. Thought I might get something with an order, but just a cpn for free Harry&David with $175.

Don't bother trying the $30 off coupon in the Bellevue store off Bel-Red road. They had copies of the coupon on each register with highlighted words: DO NOT ACCEPT THIS COUPON!

born2bfree said: Worked for me! Used it for TurboTax & MS Money. Now I feel better about not getting the earlier deal at OD.Hopefully that is a typo since you needed to buy TaxCut to get MS Money for free.

Where do I find the $10 Staples Easy Rebate? I'm assuming the Staples rebate center, but I didn't see it, only the $40MIR. Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I found it. It's a Staples gift check.

will try tomorrow
