Sweet. Our Tmobile prepaid phones are just about running out of time. Time to get these then sell the phones on CL.

Nice post, OP. Repped. Can someone tell me what's CL? Better than eB?

ouch... $10 tax

This oughta work but anyone try it...I have a 2 year old tmobile togo phone with 800 minutes on it, I should be able to just remove the sim card from that one and plug it into this phone to keep my old # and minutes, right? Anyone ever do that?

Yep, your number and minutes are tied to the SIM card, not the phone.

Highly doubtful your sales tax is 11.36%.

A really good deal - got this phone and phone card for $100 at Target last month.

One deal breaker for some: the display is unreadable in bright sunlight and tough to read in daylight in general. I am constantly pulling over to find shade so that I can use the 2610. I still like the phone, but there is a reason that they (almost) can't give it away. FYI.

Got in on the deal last year. Minutes are great but phone is terrible. I can hardly make out what's being said, and use the speakerphone often only because it's so much clearer.

Can anyone vouch for this phone?

If it's any good, can a sims card from last years deal be put into this phone? If so, how long can one wait before adding the 1000 minute card?

is this only b&m or online also?

Will this phone work in Canada (specifically the Niagara Falls area)? Want to get this for emergency use during a visit there ...

I did not like the phone either....gave it to someone who needed a new phone!!! just wanted a great deal on 1000 minutes!!! Still use my 4 year old nokia .....6010 model works fine

I am waiting for these deals coming back. I find they are better deals.

Motorola V195 + $25 air time card
or

Nokia 2610 (T-mobile) + $25 air time card

I did this last year to keep hold of an old phone #. I think I will hop on this deal again and sell/return the phone.

Can't find a single good review on this model...

and I looked at many sites like linked above.

Here is a picture of the phone, for reference
Nokia 2610

I can't say if it will work in your specific area, but it
will work in Canada over the Roger's network. It fact,
from my understanding, this is the only pre-paid phone that
let's you roam into Canada. However, you'll pay a pretty
penny (about 60 pretty pennies per minute minute to be exact)
for that privilege.

Please dont make me scour the other thread

1-how long after purchase can you wait to activate card?
2-is returning only the phone a fous pas or underhanded? Can it be done?
3-does it come with minutes card inside the box or just an activation code?

Thanks for any answers

Please excuse my ignorance of how this prepaid and sim stuff works but....
I bought this deal last year and I have the 2630. My 1 year gold thing is about to expire so its time to buy more minutes anyway.

So if I buy this Target deal and get the new phone can I just transfer my sim card to the new phone and then I keep my current number?

I have not done any unlocking tricks or anything like that.

If that doesn't work then I could just keep the phone for the future in case one breaks and use the $100 minutes on the existing account and phone.

Just use your $100 T-Mobile to Go Airtime card (from this deal) on your current SIM/Phone. There is no need to change the SIM card unless you want a different phone #.

Also, if you just want to extend the minutes on your current account for another year you can do that just by recharging your current account using a $10 Refill card.

Your account is linked to your SIM Card and not to your phone so if you change the SIM from your old phone to new phone than you can use the $100 T-Mobile to Go Airtime card (from this deal) to charge your existing account.

Can you port 2 phone #s from a regular T-Mobile family plan to (2) new pre-paid plans? I tried this a couple years back and the T-Mobile reps were not too helpful.

Awesome deal, and perfect timing for me since I've only got about 50 minutes left. But I think I'll keep my current phone (Nokia 6030) and sell the 2610. The reviews for the 2610 are pretty bad.

since the reviews on this phone are bad can this be done? buy crappy phone, take sim card out of crappy phone to put into new cooler phone and then use the T-Mobile $100 Airtime Card for new cooler phone?

1-The card does not kick in till you activate. You can wait for more than 3 months for sure, probably one year.

2- Fleabay the phone, or return it to get back approx. 22.00, if you don't want the hassle of fleabay.

3- The card comes separately from the phone retail box.

Yes. I'm going to use the airtime card that comes with this phone to add $100 to the SIM card that's already in my Nokia 6030, then sell the Nokia 2610 with it's SIM card (with whatever starter airtime comes on it). Or I may try to return just the phone, which many people reported success with last year. Might have to try a few times, but it's easier and possibly more lucrative than selling it on the internet.

T-Mobile occasionally has a promotion on their website where they include a free $25 refill card with prepaid phone orders. I have ordered a phone during one of these promotions (which I keep as a spare) and used the $25 refill on my current phone. There is no need to swap SIM cards (which would change your phone number). The refill cards are not associated with a particular SIM card until you use the refill code on a particular SIM. At that point, the minutes generally cannot be moved to another SIM.

I assume this means that there are NO rebates(last time for me there were) involved for the $88 deal so in that case as was suggested just use the To-Go card on the phone you've got and you can save the phone and its battery in case something goes wrong with the phone that you have.

Sounds like the phones got a bit cheapened compared to the 2630 that I have now.

Don

how does T-Mobile service compare to Verizon or ATT? Are they going to be around for another two years?

they will be around but coverage is generally worse than ATT or Verizon

Tempting, that is a heck of a deal. If my math is right it would come out to about 45 min a month and average $4.35 a month for two years with this deal and an addition of the $10 card. Can you add the $10 card right away and be good for 24 months?

It was my understanding that when your 1 year gold period was needing renewal that they required a full another $100 bump to save the minutes and get another year.

maybe I read it wrong?

Don

Once you reach Gold Reward status, you keep your status. This means that ANY denomination refill will extend your expiration date by one year, in addition to getting more minutes than non-Gold Reward Status customers.

There's a refill chart on T-Mobile's web site.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no better deal than T-Mobile for cell phones for people who don't use a lot of minutes. AT&T for instance, charges either $0.25/minute, or $0.10/minute + $1.00 on days you use your phone.

I tried this a couple years back and the T-Mobile reps were not too helpful.Call up T-Mobile and explain to them that you want to convert your post-paid accounts to pre-paid. Assuming you're out of contract, they will convert you over and add $5 to each account. You will need to re-set up VM on each phone. No other changes are required (same phone, same SIM, same phone number).

If you later want to get a new phone, simply move your current SIM to the new phone.

I will be and maybe you should also, hit them today, then go for a price adjustment tomorrow.
In some areas they go fast and no rain checks..
Limit two per sale...

Rebates if any, exclude, Target and WM buys.

This sucks big time. T-Mobile had the best pre-paid but looks like they want to screw it up.

So use it when you need to.

I think he was referring to how in the old way, the generated code was good for a year. I didn't try it, but it has been reported by a few people. So now you can't really stock up in a sale.
