My first post.

Wandering local (SoCal) CVS 2 nights ago, and in the 75% off clearance rack found a whole bunch of Mr. Beer Home Beer Kit for $ 7.49 (was originally $ 30 I think), bought one and the following day saw the price dropped to $ 2.99. Got them to refund the difference and bought 4 more today. The kit includes a 2 gal plastic keg, bottles/caps, yeast and starter mix (for the first two gal), catalog and a recipe book. Most of the store clerks (male and female) all have one and said the beer made with starter mix taste just like Budweiser. They even asked for a party invitation 2 weeks from now (that's how long it takes to make a batch).

So cheers....

No doubt,

I can drink about any beer and enjoy it - from Milwaukee's Best light to Guiness to the small microbreweries from the netherlands. Bud Light is good - Budweiser tastes like donkey piss ... LOL

I call Bud horsepiss. But the 2 gal keg with spigot will come in handy summer time with ice tea (or PGA punch). I am already experimenting with other recipes to get un-Bud.

Never tasted donkey or horse piss - but my neighbor (no ! have not tasted neighbors piss) makes a not bad at all brew - with similar kit

You guys are being foolish. For $3 if you have any interest in trying this hobby out, this is a perfect opportunity. To rule the deal out because you don't like Budweiser is silly. Besides, the most important component that affects beer flavor is the yeast, and there is no way that Budweiser is allowing its yeast to be sold in any kit.

As long as you are careful and sanitary, you can make surprisingly good beer even with a cheap little kit like this one.

Real beer:

Sierra Nevada

Everything else is horsepizz.

Donkey piss tastes like strawberries and butter (if you can imagine). Now horse piss... horse piss tastes terrible, like stale coffee and cigarette ashes.

Thanks

Because beer is medicine. Budweiser is not.
(no, I do not consider Budweiser grade beer as being real beer; my bladder deserves better)

Ok the BM didnt help me at all, if someone could provide a link I would appreciate it. Yeah Budweiser sucks, however I can go get another "brew" to make perosnally, a nice nut brown ale would be great, or a cream stout.

BM=Brick and Morter, not online so no link. Also, I have found that these clearance deals at CVS are very YMMV. There are several stores near me in town and they all tend to have diffrent items on clearance at any given time. Good luck!

Bud's yeast is commonly available. Just be aware that it throws a lot of green apple flavor into your beer.

I may have to scout up some of these kits for gifts. Homebrewing is a great hobby. A hobby with "benefits."

Thanks OP. In my opinion there is only good beer and better beer.
