Fed Ex tried to deliver today but didn't because neither I nor my wife were home. The Fed Ex website now says delivery is scheduled for tomorrow. Does Dell actually pay the extra money for the Saturday delivery or is the website simply not up to date? Anyone know?

Thanks!
B

I have shipped stuff via standard FedEx Ground and they delivered Saturday with no extra cost.

I have 4 sticks of 1 gig Corsair 6400. I am going to just replace the existing memory with the 4 new sticks I have. They are supposed to be identical but I noticed I have 2 different revisions. I just want to make sure I use the identical pair in the propper slots to take full advantage of dual channel.

So should the identical pair go in the side by side banks 1/2 and 3/4? I thought I read somewhere that the matching sets should go in 1/3 and 2/4.

Nevermind figure it out. It is 1/3 and 2/4. The slots are actually color coded in black and white.

Looks like Option 1 comes out to $694 plus tax for me. Do you guys think this is still a good deal? Or will a better deal be coming soon? I saw someone say something about "May 10th" in one of these Dell threads. What's coming May 10th?

Would be nice to be able to use the EPP coupon. Also, does anyone know if this is stackable with the Discover 5% CashBack and the AAA 6% discount? Thanks.

if you can wait till next month there will probably be another 10% off deal that is stackable with the $325 off.

I may have found a possible problem with this computer as a gaming rig.

I've determined that the MCH (northbrigde) of this Dell does not get enough voltage to provide for an 8800gt OC'ed. Now, of course, people would say, hey, you're OC'ing a card, that's your fault. And I respect that point of view. But a lot of companies produce 8800gt's that come OC'ed from the factory. XFX, Asus, and EVGA, which is the card I have. I have a EVGA 8800GTOC OC'ed to 650 as it was set at the facory. And it wouldn't supprise me if a good percentage of Fatwalleters were buying this PC to put a sweet 8800GT into this rig.

I've found that it causes Vista to become unstable when exiting certain games. The most specific is Valve Software Games. TF2, CSS, Portal, HL2.2. Vista crashes on exit. I've also had it crash on Exit from WoW twice in the month I've had this PC.

I don't know, but I'm guessing the MCh is set at 1.25. I believe it has to be set at 1.44, but since that's not an option to change in the bios, I'm stuck. I'm gonna try to contact teh manufacturer of the board tomorrow.

So, if you get this inspirion or one in the future, I recommend against getting any video card from the manufacturer that it OC'ed. If you do, vista will run fine, but there may be some instability in gaming.

I'll post again if I find any more info. Here's a youtube video of the type of glitch you might encounter. And there may be others I've yet to figure out. I've had a mysterious couple of bugs that I assumed at the time were Vista's fault. But they all could have been caused by this exact same problem.

Well, I'll be damned. I think Del fixed it. I sent them an email describing above in more detail wioth links and exampled.

Support responded back in less than an hour with a detailed fix. Included a chipset update and a Bios reset. I did it, and just played an hour of TF2 an no lockup. Gonna have to spend the next week tryiong other games and making sure it's actualluy fixed it for good. I only had a few hours to test it so far this morning.

Here wass the chipset they suggested I install.

chipset update
