I posted this in quick summary, but though I'd post here too in case someone wanted to reply. Get the raid5/raid10 bios hack here Vista Ultimate (and maybe one other version) lets you downgrade to XP. 32bit Vista or XP will only address about 3.3GB of RAM. BIOS supports up to 8. I was able to install Vista x64 using the same cdkey and was able to activate successfully over the phone. No real problems running Vista yet, and Vista x64 is much better then XP x64. I was not able to OC with my chip. It worked, but didn't run stable. |

Hey - I'm new here and I have a question. Can anyone please tell me how I get the FatWallet Cash Back? Do I just have to link from FW to the Dell site or is there a code I put in? Any help here will be greatly appreciated. |

Click the "Cash Back & Coupons" link at the top of the screen. Or here's a direct link: http://www.fatwallet.com/cash-back-coupons/Dell-Home-Systems When I click on the link or even go to Cash Back & Coupon click on the link inside, I always get "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" error on the popup window. This is not for Dell only, it's for every CashBack link. I used to be able to use the link. Does anyone know what could be the problem? I'm using IE7 by the way. |

You can order an AMEX e-certificate version delivered via email. I ordered mine this morning and got it within 1 hour. EDIT - If you use this certificate then the free shipping/handling option goes away so you will be charged the 29.99 but you do get to save another ($220.00, if you order the 250.00 off certificate) anway. |

Dont need a PC right now, but a BIG green to OP just for the effort and detail in the post. If only all OPs loved what they do as much as you do, the world would be a better place |

Another newbie question about the FatCash... When I click on the link, I see lots of Dell coupon links that then take me to the ordering site. If I do it correctly, is there an instant discount that I should see off my total price? Or does the FatCash come to me later as a rebate check? I'm not seeing clarification on how I can see that I actually got the 3% off. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! |

Thanks OP, ordered 1... ~$20 cheaper than last time. The price of the Q6600 has gone from $250 to $195, so I'm not sure it's "as hot of a deal", but I'll bite on 1 anyway. |

Hmmm. The 24" goes for $300-$350 on eBay, while the downgraded (-$160) 22 goes for $200-250. If you want to tweak up a couple of other components to get it back over $1000, this nets you $60 if you were planning to sell the monitor. Add in the fatwallet effect (flood of 24" on eBay once these systems come in) and you might do better than that, especially if you're a weasel and jack up the shipping (man that ticks me off). I just bumped it up to 3GB RAM, added the media reader and firewire card, and got the whole thing for $668 inc tax. Take off $200 for the monitor and it's not bad at $468. I figure the $60 savings balances the $60 too much I paid for the upgrades, but saves me some trouble. Also, did anyone else notice the 750GB external WD drive for $100? That isn't bad...except it ends up as a 500GB once the order goes through. In discussion with them now on this point. It's still a decent, non-special-sale price for a 500 but I don't want WD's 500. |
