$90 more than last round

TypeEE said: $90 more than last round

That is because of the "DOUBLE DIP" last time with the 10% off using EPP & also 2 or 4% EPP discount.

Those double dips don't come often

There is no media cnetr with windows basic, so I'm not sure what thw TV tuner will have installed for DVR SW.

This is an awesome deal. I got in when it was $650 shipped. This deal has a larger HDD, so it's not too bad at all. Thanks!

It was 250Gb, how is it a larger harddrive?

This is from Dell Home and Home office. For those who have discover card, you can buy it from shopdiscover and get 5% Cash Back. It's advertised at the homepage of Discovercard.com

Do deals with the 2408 ever show up anymore? Seems to me they're refusing to include the good 24" with the cheaper systems.

Anyone in on previous deal know the cpu stepping? I know can't OC a Dell, but nice to have a G0 for lower power consumption..

Where are you getting the option to add the TV Tuner? I don't have it as an option.

o.k. sorry about my ignorant comments but i am a computer novice. i have a Gateway, bought in 1998, which somewhat still works but many programs won't run with 98 still on it and was told don't put anything bigger. anyway, i am thinking about doing this deal and was wondering a few things.? can i do discover and FatCash? Cash Back? also does this have a cdburner on it so i can burn cd's? sorry i know probably stupid but i am trying to go with the hot topics cuz i don't know what i am doing/ mostly just need it for surfing and i would like to be able to edit photos not really store just edit. thanks. rachael.

TypeEE said: $90 more than last round

This was already confirmed, but thank you for "whipping it out" for us all to brag it up.

I don't have a discover card, but you should be able to do them both. This comes with a DVD burner which also will burn CD's. This system will be more than capable for your needs. I would even say you could go cheaper, but it's probably good to be somewhat safe for the future since it sounds like you know how to squeeze every last minute out of a system!

AWESOME POST OP! thank you...so green...

Good post. Looking for a quad core deal.

This sucks .. just finished building almost identical computer at home .. and even the parts cost more than what Dell is charging for the whole system! What a deal for the lazy and the inept

This one can actually be OC'ed to 3.0ghz with stock cooling. Google Inspiron 530 BSEL mod.

I got the G0 stepping

I got the G0 stepping

got mine during the EPP hoohaa also. mine also was G0 stepping, and the BSEL o/c was damn easy.
quad o/c to 3ghz and a 24" lcd for $617 after tax shipped.

Just bought this Thanks OP, i was about to order parts from Newegg and this was lot cheaper. Now, Can i upgrade the GPU to 8800GT w/o upgrading the PSU? I ordered system with onboard video Thanks in advance for replies.

I just don't understand why the Vostro 400 offers the E8500 as an upgrade and the 530 does not (yet)...oh well, guess I'll keep holding out.

Yes it can take a 8800gt.

I don't see how this is hot. Monitor is worth $300, the computer is not worth $400 IMO.

I got the G0 stepping

Got one out of the outlet made in February and it is a GO.

Smoking deal for soccer moms, or dads!

Hmmm.... Dunno if I should go with Xp or Vista. is the performance hit with vista really that bad? I don't have any vista PC's so it would be nice to get one now that the service pack is out. But this rig would probably be primarily for gaming and a little bit of programming. Myn understanding is that Xp is better for that.

Any advice.

Go with Vista. XP is a dead end for gaming because of direct X 10. I made the jump and it is ok. It's not better than XP but acceptable with SP1. And direct x 10 really is vista only. Some people say it can run on XP, but it can't consistantly.

doesn't the 530 MB require only 1.8V memory chips? your offer for the crucial 1.9V won't work will it?

greyhavns said: doesn't the 530 MB require only 1.8V memory chips? your offer for the crucial 1.9V won't work will it?

1.9 800mhz Corsair works at 800mhz. Not sure about Crucial.

Oh man - I was flipping out that I missed the last deal. Now I have to calm down, consider all my options, write all my thoughts down, throw out that piece of paper and just buy it!

Thanks OP - it's a good day to be GREEN!

1.9 800mhz Corsair works at 800mhz. Not sure about Crucial.

no what i mean is that the 530s motherboard i thought only supported 1.8V memory. therefore, if the crucial requres 1.9V, it won't work cause i originally had OCZ Gold at 2.2V i think and it wouldn't boot up until i read on the forums it was incompatible. so, with that being said, can it be confirmed this memory will work on the inspiron 530 motherboard?

Go with Vista! Very stable, secure and with support for many years to come. I started using Vista the 1st day it came out, 01/30/07, and never looked back. Been gaming since then with no issues @ all.

XP is somewhat faster for gaming if you are an IDIOT who counts FPS instead of enjoying the actual game.

will the HP memory that was $5AR a while back work in the computer? i still have 4gb of that memory sitting in my desk.

Sweet...

Great deal OP. For those of you who live in California, Amazon has the same video card the OP listed from ZZF for the same price AR and you can save on the sales tax.

8800GT Thread

Both the 600 and 640MHz versions are the same price; any reason not to get the 640MHz version?

dave316 said: will the HP memory that was $5AR a while back work in the computer? i still have 4gb of that memory sitting in my desk.
Yes that memory will work. I have 4 gigs of them in my 530, works fine.

Great post OP! IMO though, the first deal is the best... I was tempted by the TV Card, but since its only worth $50, I'd say the jump from a 22" to a 24" screen is worth more...

Skipping 209 Messages...

Well, I'll be damned. I think Del fixed it. I sent them an email describing above in more detail wioth links and exampled.

Support responded back in less than an hour with a detailed fix. Included a chipset update and a Bios reset. I did it, and just played an hour of TF2 an no lockup. Gonna have to spend the next week tryiong other games and making sure it's actualluy fixed it for good. I only had a few hours to test it so far this morning.

Here wass the chipset they suggested I install.

chipset update
