I've missed the last couple of deals with an XP configuration, but I just put one together. I'm not super savvy, so if someone could give me feedback on whether this is an ok deal, I would appreciate it.

This is not close to the other deals, I think

other deal had a 24 inch monitor and was about 75 bucks less. This is a ok deal, just when you compare, it is hard to beat the last few Dell Quad deals.

Not a bad deal at all! The video card probably needs swapping though.

This is actually not that bad, costing only $50 more than the previous deal after DPA. The other one had a 24", but only 1GB of RAM, integrated video, no media card reader, vista home basic, and 250GB HD.

Me or OP? Sorry! I know I'm hijacking the thread.

ugh. double post

I think OP deal is better than yours and you will get more with less money. I think it's better you go with this deal. Just upgrade video card!

This price is a little higher than last EPP deal offer BUT it has "500GB Hard Drive, 3GB Memory, Video card (Not good for gaming), and 19 in 1 Media Card Reader" so not that much higher if you compare.

Nice deal again OP! Green!

Hmmm... If I upgrade the video card and the warranty (needed in a house with six kids), it's $1048 - 10% = $944 Is it enough better than the one I posted to justify the extra?

Very nice deal. The 24" deal was based on factors such as SELLING the monitor away & adding your own aftermarket RAM or Hard drive or video card. In addition, the onboard Vista OS was not Premium as mentioned above.

If I were a person who had time then yes. But if I need a ready out of the box machine to do many things, this one is preloaded & ready to go out of the box.

I had priced the prior quad core 530 with a 22" & it came out to ~$800 with t+s.

So this one will save me about$60-70. Thanks OP!!!

Is the difference between the 667 and the 800mh ram worth an extra bit of cash? and how does that affecting OCing?

Username372 said: The 24" deal was based on factors such as SELLING the monitor away

I saw this Dell 248WFP monitor in Staples yesterday. I am glad I did not jump on it. The viewing angle is BAD. Guess it is why HDTV is more expensive since using different type of panel. You only want it for reselling. I would stick to my old Viewsonic tube.

nah. If you wanted the 800mhz, order it elsewhere.

That's not an equal comparison. This deal comes with either ATI or Nvidia card - entry level - and a 500GB hard drive. However, considering that you can get yourself a low end video card by either ATI or Nvidia and a 500GB hard drive for about $150 with recent deals that comes to mind, this deal isn't as good as the one mentioned. If you've missed the previous deal though, it's looking a lot better than the alternative.

how much Dell 19 in 1 Media Card Reader cost?
op's deal also inlcude this

You guys are silly, some of the 24 inch 530 Q6600 deals were really good but this one isn't a great deal at all IMO. All the extra stuff is dirt cheap to buy in the aftermarket or isn't needed.

Get a quad6600 from the outlet. I got one for $289, another for $329. Not a deal every day, but some sweet deals do come up.

I don't know about you, but I normally sit in front of my monitor when I'm using it so the viewing angles don't apply. Maybe if some ppl were using it as a TV display and sitting on the side it would be an issue.

The viewing angle is fine on mine. I can read the text at a 70 degree or better angle.

EPP doesn't apply for me
any one have made it?

too late man. too late for epp.

I think if you can share your outlet plunder technique then it might become a most celebrated thread till Dell figures it out. I see lot of Q6600 listed but minimum is 419, not sure how you got 329 or 289.

I've been researching the video cards that will work for this computer. Your best bang for your buck is probably the GeForce 8600 GT for $50 at Newegg. If you want to spend even less, the 8400 GT is $20 at Newegg...but probably won't be much of an upgrade from the IMA 3100 that comes with the comptuer. Most people that are willing to pay more for a video card are going with the 8800 GT which costs like $160 right now on one of the forums.

You have to be careful though, the psu is only 350 Watts in this thing. A lot of video cards won't work without upgrading the PSU. Including the 8800 GTS.
