What's with the 10/100 NIC? Is that a typo or does a desktop of this calibre still not have gigabit?

Gigabit ethernet on this computer would be nice but not really needed. Most home routers don't even support GigE

wow, seems like a pretty good deal for a quad-core.

Nope, just doesn't have it. No idea why

sean75p said: Gigabit ethernet on this computer would be nice but not really needed. Most home routers don't even support GigE

agreed; and hopefully people dont think this will make their internet speed go any faster....

I can not get the EPP coupon to work. It says that my email address is invalid. I am guessing that you need a Dell.com email address? How is anybody supposed to get the 10% coupon?

Are most ppl who buy Dell Home PC on a G/B network?

Good as this deal with the 22" monitor?

There are a few $50 off EPP codes on eBay right now. Would these stack?

Wondering about the same thing as well. Or should I wait for the next deal? Thx in advance for your comment.

well since you can find 22" LCD's for under $200 pretty frequently, I'd say this is a good deal and you can pick up a monitor later

just signed up for the 10% off coupon, how long does it usually take to arrive by email ?

a few hours and what domain did u use? also r u planning to get the video card from Dell or somewhere else? and if somewhere else which one?

sean75p said: Gigabit ethernet on this computer would be nice but not really needed. Most home routers don't even support GigE

What do you mean not really needed? We run gigabit in the office cause we need it. Every IBM we've bought in the past 5 years has had gigabit integrated standard. WTF Dell.

Gigabit switches are cheap < $30.

Dell should include it by now since people do use networks for things other than the internet. Streaming video anyone and file transfers anyone?

It took my email address, however, it has been over an hour...no code?!!?!?!

tried to get in on some previous deals but i was always too late. bought this one, thanks op!

wetwillys said: It took my email address, however, it has been over an hour...no code?!!?!?!

maybe you should try again? i got the email less than 15 seconds after i signed up for it.

Trying to resist...may be futile...already got in on the M1530 lappy deal....

I really, really hope your office does not run on $30 switches...

and you stream at one gig?

swiego said: What's with the 10/100 NIC? Is that a typo or does a desktop of this calibre still not have gigabit?

Dell cripples their cheap stuff in an attempt to get you to upgrade to a more expensive model. Upselling gimick, which is honestly, kind of scummy.

What's the ship date for your computer? Bought one last week with exact same specs and still have April 1 as EST Ship date.

Paboo

No, but if I have a stream going to watch a video on 10/100 it kills file transfers, VOIP, and other traffic. The extra bandwidth allows more applications at once.

We have expensive Cisco switches in the closet, but there is no shame in having el-cheapo switches in offices where needed. The raw performance is the same. (BTW, If you don't need the management features wtf does it matter if you run on cheap switches)

I really hope you're not as stupid as you sound.

I tried that...said I already requested one!

Did not take my email at all. Tried yahoo and hotmail and got this message "yahoo.com (hotmail.com) is not a valid email address." Anyone has the same problem?

it wants the business email associated with your group EPP plan number

I read somewhere that it was not accepting "free email" accounts (yahoo, etc.)

I'm just wondering how this is possible:

3GB - Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs

saxman said: I'm just wondering how this is possible:

2x1gig

Duh!

I think it's time to go home

I picked this up today, used 10% EPP, also applied a 6% stackable coupon that's available to all AAA members.

I'm sorry but your comment goes beyond crass since you are exhibiting your own stupidity. You CAN bog down even a cheapo gig switch by simply having more than one user trying to transfer/stream large amounts of data at the same time. So crawl back to your hole - IT god.

does anyone know if this motherboard would have a pci-e x16 slot?

i seem to remember the dells that had onboard video didn't have agp slots (back in the day)

Yes it does.

Just installed a PCI-E 8600GT from the last Dell E530 that go delievered yesterday.

Are you serious?

There are 13 root servers that serve all the DNS for the entire internet.

http://www.root-servers.org/

We're "B", Information Sciences Institute Marina Del Rey, CA.

We have hundreds of cheap Netgear GS105 switches throughout the whole building which work just fine.

I'll get back to enjoying my view of the boats and ocean now along with multiple gigs of bandwidth.

Here is a 10% EPP coupon I signed up for. Just reply after you use it.

I am sorry but didn't you read entire OP post?

OP post is not just a deal detail. OP already gave all information you need to know about this computer you are going to buy and still we ask this kind of questions over and over!? Asking this kind of questions shows we don’t respect OP work and time to find and post all information we need to know about this computer or deal.

Seriously how many post you can find here with this much detail and information!?

Example:

You asked: “Does anyone know if this motherboard would have a PCI-E x16 slot?”

Your answer is: In OP post go to notes and number 3 gives you a link to Owner's Manual for the Inspiron 530. Click on that link for PDF file and then go to page 104 and 105 and see number 25!!!

quard said: I picked this up today, used 10% EPP, also applied a 6% stackable coupon that's available to all AAA members.

How did you do that? It is not stacking for me.

Skipping 137 Messages...

" I just called.. they won't honor the 6% AAA code"

They will tell you that they won't honor it but just keep insisting that they do. Tell them that it's stackable and stackable means that you should be able to use them together. Every time they called me they would say that they will not honor both but I would say sternly but in a nice way "the coupons are stackable and should be allowed to be used together." They kept saying that they would look into it further and finally called me back to tell me they we going to apply the credit to my account.
