According to EPP CSR (for what that's worth) they are explicitly not allowed to change the OS after purchase. So those hoping to call and get Vista upgrade will have an uphill battle; not that that has ever stopped a Fw'er. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. |

In for 1 with XP Pro. Still not sure if I made the best choice, but a lot less unknowns with XP and I've always liked it. Is it worth it to try to switch it to Vista Premium and downgrade it if necessary? What will be on the recovery disks with the computer? Total cost was $471 with tax, shipped. Looks better then the last Dell Home&Office deal w/o monitor that was $480+tax. Option 4 |

iamanooj said:i used my university email address, and it worked right away, maybe some universities work and some dont? That is interesting. Seems they have finally limited it to just those companies they have certain levels of commitment from. My wife's university uses Dell but not in a big way. Obviously not big enough to warrant a coupon. |

Is it worth it to spend an extra $35 for the bluetooth + 13 in one reader? Will I lose an extra slot on the mother board? TIA. |

I also got Vista OS, but it wouldn't let me apply the 10% coupon. My order is still in there. I'm on the phone now to try and apply the coupon. |

I stand corrected. I just verified this to be true. Also, my 10% coupon worked yesterday but not today. Are those who were able to use the coupon with a vista rig getting cancelled? MrCheapSk8 said:russ0519 said:BargainActivist said:I'm sure it will work. Just give it a try and remove the code after you find what you wish to know. It should not affect the validity of the code unless you pull the trigger.
I am on the same boat and very tempted....
russ0519 said:Does anyone know if you can use the AMEX rewards cert for this?
"$250 Dell Home System and Television Certificate"
It says Dell Home, but can you use that at EPP?
I haven't actually ordered the cert yet... was hoping someone would know for sure if it will work before i order it.
They do NOT work on EPP purchases. I have tried in the past. |

tragic said:Just wondering if anyone try to overclock this CPU to 3.0ghz? I used the tape mod to get to 3.0 ghz. it was a 10 minute job. It works but when I tried to do a stress test using OCCT it would halt after 3 minutes because of "CPU too hot" idle temp was around 47c full load went up as high as 69 then halted during OCCT test. I got the Artic Freezer 7 Pro for $26 off Newegg. now idle temp is around 40 and max load is around 50. and it pass OCCT stress test. you have to take out the mobo and pull out the HSF backplate and the 4 black plastic tab on the screw holes on order to fit the Artic Freezer Pro 7 mounting pins in. an extra $26 to go from 2.4ghz to 3.0 ghz ... WELL WORTH IT. Some prople run fine at 3.0 ghz on stock cooling but I don't want to take a chance. |

What is the main difference between this system and XPS630? XPS630 is about $700 more than this for similar config. |

i really want this but im afraid it might not fit and the power supply on the i530 isnt sufficient... the 8800 GT should fit just fine. the 530 with quad core comes with a 350W power supply from Dell, most people say its underrated. there are quiet a few people that put in the 8800GT. i like XFX are some good cards; wait for a deal on the one you listed, there are usually rebates to bring down to $159-$169 range + free shipping. there are also XXX version of that from XFX, which comes overclocked. |

Most home routers don't even support GigE agreed; and hopefully people dont think this will make their internet speed go any faster.... Gigabit won't get your internet surfing faster than the bottleneck --the modem router to ISP, but it would help the "in-network LAN" speed if both ends has GB NICs. In other words: you and next door Joe = the max speed of the modem; your giga1 and giga2 wired to the same GB switch = the min. of those 3 GB |

You have to call it in. I checked with Dell chat and they gave me a # 1-866-535-3578
No go at that #. They said you couldn't apply 2 coupons to the same order. When I called mine in, they forwarded me to the EPP-specific line: 1-800-695-8133. I gave them the code and reiterated the coupon language: "System coupon is combinable with all other promotions," and the rep applied it on top of the 10% EPP without any hassle. I should mention that it did take him about a half hour to get it all straightened out. |

I am running into the same problem other ran into with the coupon. I eventually found an ex-coworker whose email worked, but they said they never got it. Perhaps cause I am using my name but someone else's email, which is obviously not mine. I would love to get this deal and try the OC. |
