Wallingford is now out of them, as I was buying one, a woman was eyeing them and I recommended it as a great deal, and she bought the last two...they still have the display model available, not sure if they will sell it or not...

You rest your case after someone finds a couple dead floor models? Maybe its just me, but ive seen floor models get the **** beat out of them, especially at a WalMart. I've never heard of overwhelming failures with Phillips-Magnavox, and as far as I know- ive seen Toshiba at the head of the laptop market, and SHARP ahead in cameras, but ive not heard stellar reviews about their TVs.

BTW- As I stated the WalMart protection plan on the tv is only $28.88- lasts for 2 years on top of the 90 day labor and 1 year parts it already comes with. So even at the total price after the warranty - $453.23, it still is cheaper than any 32" ive seen, a better brand- and youre guaranteed it'll last at least 2+ years. When you find that type of deal somewhere else, with that guarantee- let me know and I'll spread some green your way.

Toshiba's LCD line is known as "Regaza." pretty highly rated, though has a noted "green push" problem some have witnessed. maybe towards the lower end of the true "name brands". Sharp's AQUOS line is VERY highly rated, though can be known to have a banding problem. (as for comments about Samsung, that's pretty much laughable as they go head to head with Sony for top LCD's on the planet). I heavily researched HDTV's for a year, and I've NEVER seen a single positive EXPERT review for Magnavox other than "ok for a budget brand," much less reviews that state what you said. I did see a user review in a quick google search for this very TV that stated it's 1080p display is awesome (yeah, it can't do 1080p).

sorry, you are crapping us for speaking what the experts have said. a simple trip through the AVS forums will see Magnovox as nothing but a budget brand with subpar return rates, while Toshiba and Sharp are on the other side of the gap i talked about, but certainly more expensive.

AGAIN, VERY good price for an HDTV of it's size, but not name brand quality.

Long time lurker, first time poster. =)

Picked up the last one at the Lawrence, KS WalMart this afternoon. It was hiding in the warehouse with no display model. The tag said $614 and when I asked the kid at the counter to check the price he about died laughing. Thanks for this great find. I'm in grad school and I'm finally replacing the 15 year old Sanyo that has served me honorably.

***Got it all set up tonight. The picture looks very good and I love all of the inputs on this thing. I'm running to the cable company tomorrow night after work to pick up an HD box. The only complaint I have is about the base. Anyone else have trouble getting the base on tight? I reattached it a few times and the screen still leans forward just a bit. It isn't a deal breaker, just a little strange.

I read on another web site that Phillips is pulling out of the United States Market . The Phillips name will still be in the United States, they sold the brand name to Funai , a chinese manufacturer. If you buy a Mangnavox get an extended warranty, as a lot of these LCD are basically disposable, with no repair parts available.

Total cost after tax= $422.94
while definitely a decent price on the TV, I wouldn't exactly put Magnavox in the "name brand quality" category these days. I'd put them in with Vizio, Olevia's, etc. Pretty middle of the road at most.

Magnavox is manufactured by Philips. While quality, performance and features are comparable, it is a step up from the likes of Vizio and Olevia from a service and support perspective.

The Magnavox LCD TV I bought had a 90 day warranty, picture failure at 5 months, their warranty/service department told me they did not repair only did flat rate repairs that was an exchange (& was w/i $50 of what they were selling new if you bargain shopped), & when I asked about a service manual or schematic (i build electronic kits so though maybe i could repair it then) was told they don't make them for at least the unit I had. This is not a step up IMHO!

As many have stated good price - just make sure you consider an extended warranty (which I didn't) if this only has 90 days. Luckily I bought mine at Sam's club which refunded the price.

I passed on WalMart warranty - they let you come back and buy it within so many days, right? My set is looking great right now so forget all the haters and naysayers.

This TV is my main set. It's a nice TV. The only gripe I have on the TV is that the TV makes some high pitched sound in power saving mode.

I got it last night at the WalMart in Saddlebrook,NJ. The cashier scanned it and the look on his face when he saw $399 was priceless lol. I said no to the warranty cause I thought this would have at least 1 year. But now that I see 90 days. Im going to go ahead and pick up the 2 year warranty for only $28.88

What is power saver mode for anyway? It only seems to degrade te picture to me

Not that is matters that much, but Philips is getting out of the LCD market (at least in the US). Thus, they are probably clearancing out merchandise, including Magnavox.

With that said, I am off to look for one for my in-laws....

None of those mentioned are a "step up" from anything. They are bottom tiered TV's with Vizio being your best bet. Olevia is in the midst of bankruptucy proceedings.

Philips/Mag is a joke when it comes to warranty service.

I'm not certain where you've done any investigating, but as someone else has already pointed out, you're obviously not familiar with LCDs in general.

I already made the comment that it was a good price on a 32" LCD, so not sure what your point is there. My comments addressed those that compared a lower tier brand, ie Magnavox to top of the line brands...which it most certainly IS NOT. Hence the absolutely pathetic 90 day factory warranty.

I stand by my original statement. If it's associated with Philips, it's junk.

Off to Mc WalMart to get Diet Dr. Thunder ... and look for TV deal.
I hate you guys.

None in the Memphis area.

you get what you pay for here. Magnavox is generic.

Yes you can go back and grab the warranty- ive done it on other items, for under $30 it definately seems worth it.

To QuicknDirty and Calvin: Actually I know plenty about LCDs and Plasmas- Never said it was top of the line but better than the lower brands- either way we all seem to agree its a good price for a 32" HDTV, which i guess is the main point.

Good luck to anyone else still trying to find it, as others have said- even when its listed at $614, have the cashier scan it- it seems to be popping up $399 all over.
