Fixed!

are there any limits on the rebates???

How much do the gallons regularly costs?

Just as a heads up to anyone out there looking at this deal. But Behr Wood stains are absolute crap and should never go near a deck.

They couldn't pay me to put that stuff on my deck.

Cant speak for the wood stains, but I can vouch for the interior paint. It so rules over Olympic paint from Lowe's. I'll only use Behr for my walls!

Lowes has Vespar now. No more Olympic.

You're right. Behr is low end consumer grade paint. (it used to be decent until they got in bed with Home Crapo). It get's terrible reviews in the professional painter forums.

You're better off buying the "top shelf" line of profesional paints. (SW, BM, Pratt, etc). You won't find them at Home Crapo or Lowes. You need to shop at real paint stores. You can still get a deal by asking for the painter's price. (assuming your buying more then a gallon or two).

High end paint is usually the best overall value when you consider the big picture. (less material needed, less labor, better looks and longer life). A good example is SW Duration at nearly $50/gal or Pratt's Accolade at about $30/gal.

Lowes has the same deal on Valspar this weekend if you like that better. I have to second the deck stain comment, do not use Behr, I have no issue with their paint but the deck stuff is crap.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. Show me the scientific data or shut up.

You're neglecting to say that most of the price involved in those "pro" paints go straight to commission for the referring painter who "gives you a special discount if you mention his name".

I've tried many of 'em. I can't detect any labor savings. Infact, I can't even detect the difference between behr and glidden at Home Depot. Am I stupid or insensitive? Maybe, but I am certainly a perfectionist and it doesn't seem to matter a bit with the way I apply it (power roller, mini rollers and brushes).

YMMV..

Here we go again....It seems that whenever this deal get posted, we get a lot of comments about the quality of Behr paints. I will offer some of my anectodal experience. I have used Sherwin Williams paints for the past 3 or 4 times I have painted my home or my parents. With that being said, I purchased 25 gallons of Behr paint the last time this deal was occurring (maybe 2 months ago). I notice that the Behr paint is thicker and does not go on as easily. However, the SW paint was going to cost me about $45/gallon after their sale as opposed to $18/gallon for the Behr (after rebate and 10% off coupon), which equates to $1125 for SW and $450 for Behr. To me, the difference in quality was not that big. I have so far used about 18 gallons of paint on my place, and I could not be happier. The color looks great and honestly, the finished product looks just as good as when I used SW. Hope this helps to whomever is on the fence.

If you're going to go with Behr, I'd recommend paying the extra few dollars for premium plus.

I believe that behr premium plus was rated #1 in consumer reports for the past few
years. This year they are #3 overall afaik.

CR paint reviews

isnt the bigger difference with the high end paints is that the color will last longer so you dont have to paint as often?? we just painted our 10 year old stucco home with dunn edwards acriflat it wasnt cheap but we paid more because its made for homes in the west and it wont fade as quick as other paints

I've used all kinds of brands of paints and when you go high end the pigments are more expensive, i.e. more lightfast. The priciest ones that I've used recently were Fine Paints Of Europe and Schreuder brands. The one I needed was oil based and non-yellowing Titanium White. A lot of work because their application directions. Beaucoup $$$....over $30 per container of less than a quart.
Recently I painted my kitchen using Behr Kitchen and Bath Paint but found it too glossy so had to repaint it in eggshell. The premium lines are very good. I carry professional commercial liability and get the top Contractor's discount on any size order at the local stores (Janovic/Benjamin Moore) but went to HD and paid retail for the 1 gallon.

Would you use Behr again?

Any recommendations for redwood stain for my outdoor redwood playset that has never been stained after 7 years?

that's a small window for the rebate.

Sikkens, BM's Benwood, SW Woodscapes or Cabots

CR ratings are meaningless. Feedback from professional painting forums has much more credibility.

milkandcookies said: Any recommendations for redwood stain for my outdoor redwood playset that has never been stained after 7 years? No. In my exterior work (roof decks) I've always used Cedar which we coat with a spray application of a sealer; doesn't seem to help because it always oxidizes to a weathered grey within months.
