spock7 said:Coupon says original, does the printed coupon (black and white) works?

yup
Since it came from the Internet, a printed version is the original and having it B&W or color should not matter. I bought 2 and both were printed in B&W.

I ended up paying tax, the receipt listed the coupon as a promotion instead of as a coupon, I don't know if that's why I had to pay tax or not (Los Angeles area).
Alhambra: 1 1/2 hours before close there were only a few left (no $12.99 ones, just $10.99) and more people were there with coupons. The cashier acknowledged that they were running through them fast and that it is a really good coupon. Thank goodness they had price scanners because nothing was in the right place anymore.
Covina: Right before closing and I think I got the last $12.99 one but they were almost fully stocked on the other ones, including the $10.99 ones. The cashier referred to it as the "infamous coupon" but had no problems taking it.
I don't know if they have more in the stockroom or not for either store.

i went and got one, didnt pay tax, a guy in front of me had his wife and 2 kids all with coupons. They walked out with 4. They did ask for my telephone number, and she entered it into the register.

Used two coupons. Had to pay the sales tax of 88 cents. Thanks OP!

Scored two from Toys R Us in Southgate MI
The wife and I had toyz to get for the kids, nephews, and neighbors.

Take the 5$ off coupon when you go and also get the free Thomas!
Thanks OP!

The Monrovia store wouldn't take anything less than the email printout with the coupon. What a crock of S**T!!!

Hey, watch your language. No need for profanity.

Good for them. Too bad other stores aren't doing this. I can't believe people will violate ethics just for a 12.99 toy. Especially that father with two kids, what kind of lesson is he teaching them?

delate the private data and cookies from the browser to print multiple copies

What kind of ethics are you talking about? The coupon in publicly available on the Internet, has no restrictions, etc. etc. I have printed couple of copies and used them as I run errands today around the town. BTW, TRS in more ghetto areas have much better stock than the ones in more affluent ones.

Went to the TRU this afternoon in Fairfax, VA. Sign on the front door said they were all out of Thomas the Trains. Something like, "Due to the overwhelming response to the coupons, we are all out of stock and something to the effect of, please try back later." The same sign was posted inside the store where the Thomas the Train section was literally stripped bare.

Lol, it's not publicly available. If you go to the original link, which I found through another posting, not to the online image of the coupon, it will say something like, it's already been printed, you can only print it once. So by printing it another way you are violating the spirit of the coupon. Also, it says NO copies. How can a father, wife, and 2 children have 'originals'; they must've printed copies of it.

I don't know why people will give red to someone trying to point out something wrong being done, yet green for doing something unethical. I guess that's just the way of the consumer society of America---you expect to get anything you want, no matter the way you go about getting it!

Just got back from TRU in Dallas, TX.

I showed the the floor clerk the coupon and ask if I could use the coupon on any of the Thomas items or did it have to be the train?

He said it will work on anything that is Thomas the Train -DVD's - Books whatever.

I then ask -Can I just deduct this amount($12.99) from the item if it is more than $12.99?

He said sure shouldn't be a problem if you pay the difference.

So I picked out the Thomas The Train rolling back pack for my grandson it was $14.99.

Once at the checkstand I showed the clerk the coupon before she rang up the Thomas the Train backpack (my only item) and ask-- Can I use this if I pay the difference over $12.99?

She said sure no problem- yet when she went to scan the coupon she had to call the manager for a key turn.

The manager came over and said I had to purchase the Thomas the train -the actual train and that I could not use it on any other Thomas the Train item.

So back to the aisle I went and got the Thomas The Train retailing for $12.99.

I made sure that I went back to the same line and the same clerk that I had before in case there was going to be a issue and this time she rang up the train and the coupon and there was no call to the manager for the key turn.

Clerk said your total is O.OO and no tax was charged.

She sacked up my only item the train and smiled and said have a good day!

I walked out the door smiling with the free train for my grandson! Thanks FatWallet!

Same here. I arrived at the store and interestingly the lady in front of me was checking out and had to get a train 12.99 or lower. No chance of getting even a 15.99 one so don't try. I was able to get one for each child. My 7 year old could have cared less so my 3 year old loves 2 now. Thanks OP.

You will find that a lot lately. I don't blame them for asking. The want to see if you printed from their site. I had a rebate denied once because of this.

Boy I'm glad you are not buying for my birthday.

Many of the stores in ATL area are either picked over or almost out. Shame of it is that the coupon cannot be used for any trains over 12.99. The manufacturer is clearly trying to move the inventory of characters that no one has heard of and consequently, not buying.

Oh well, snagged a few for my 2 year old. She is thrilled!

Was able to get one - had to give the coupon to my son though to use, as they would only let one coupon per guest, and I had other things to buy using the $10 off $50 coupon I received via snail mail. Paid nothing for it either. He was happy!!

Oh, we're in W. PA.

How can a father, wife, and 2 children have 'originals'; they must've printed copies of it.It does the "already been printed" thing after you've loaded the page from your machine. If you try to reload it, you get that message. Now, it is possible that you could tell it not to close the window after it prints and print some more. It's also possible that the father, wife and children were each signed up for the TRU mailing list and got the link and printed the coupon from their own machine. Or didn't you think of that?

The coupon is being printed directly from the TRU site. It's not like someone saved a copy and stored it on another server.
