is this better than the YouTube downloader that you can get for free also, which is a smaller sized program?
There is also the downloadhelper add-in for Firefox, but that requires a separate .flv player.

Where does the registration key get entered in? Just installed it and it never asked for the key. Program says "20 downloads left trial version". I looked through all of the menus and tabs but there is nowhere to enter the registration key they provide.

it's better if you are trying to get videos from other sources besides youtube. If all you need are youtube videos, youtubeget is sufficient.
I think Video Get also has more bells and whistles for what you can do with the video after (resize, etc) than youtube get.

open the activate.exe file that came in the download, that will tell you how to activate the program with giveawayoftheday so you get the fully licensed permanent version.

I've been using vixy.net and have been pretty happy with it. Just three complaints. (1) You have to do one at a time. That is solved with VideoGet. (2) yesterday half my videos ended up with no sound. (don't know if that would be fixed today, but I'm trying this new thing.) (3) you don't get any control over the video quality settings. That is also solved with VideoGet.
One at a time may not seem like a big deal, but I've started to get lessons from youTube for the Korean Language and swing dancing. There are 160+ korean lessons and 15 swing dance lessons. It's much nicer to input a list than do one at a time.
The thing I like about vixy.net is that their server does the conversion work and then I just DL it. Also, I don't need to install anything.

When you start the program, toward the top there is a red box with a key in it. Click that and then enter your registartion code.
Try Firefox + DownloadHeler add on
