OD was sold out locally. Nearby Staples matched the $259.99 price and didn't make any fuss about the $200 HP rebate that printed out with the receipt! |

HP does NOT have to honor ANY of the rebates being sent from OD and it would be perfectly legal. How you people dont understand this is mind boggling. Onion, come back in 8 weeks when we get our rebates. I'll point you back here then, don't worry. Onion seems to always be negative anyway. His stores must always sell out fast leaving him out of luck and cranky. You like that "boggling" word, don't you ? How is it then every HP CSR rebate person is boggled also ???? Wonder who is boggled here ? Bottom line is OD IS a qualifying reseller WITH an ad, that every CSR (ID;s posted) has confirmed. Mind boggling. |

IMHO, initially this deal was a gamble because of that "with qualifying ads" phrase. But the sheer number and percentage of people calling and getting confirmation from the rebate center reveals a high likelihood that it will succeed. If you check the other deal site this item is quite a Hot Topic. In this case I think it's working in our favor to call the rebate center (not OD) and get the conversation documented. The more people do that the more likely this will succeed...power in numbers. At the very least it may teach them to use less "ambiguous" language in their rebates. Yeah you can compare to past HP rebates where they reneged on the rebates but the TC were different as well. I don't foresee HP backing out of this one. |

It really looks and seems to be that HP wanted to make a point that "Best Buy, Office Max, etc" are excluded from this rebate thus the "qualifying ads/sellers" wording. While somewhat confusing, I think HP thought they needed to put this extra wording in there so people didn't buy from the above sellers and complain when the rebate did not come thru. |

Yes that's one way to interpret what HP is saying, and hopefully is correct. But the ambiguity in what is a "qualifying reseller ads" was enough to give me cold feet at first. Still I'm pretty confident this will fly, otherwise there'll be a lot of unhappy people. |

Ok, guys/gals, called the number, said it is ok for the rebate. . So I did an online chat with the CSR at HP, and decided NOT to risk the rebate this time. Here is the part of the chat (which I got the transcrpit in the email): Morris: Hello! Morris: To clarify are you looking to purchase a Laser jet printer? Guest: yes Morris: To be sure you're speaking with the right team, would you please tell me if you will be reselling, or if are you with a government agency or an institution that receives any type of government funding? Guest: I'll be end user Morris: Thank you for the information and your patience. Don't forget to ask about our Great Imaging and Printing promotions that are currently running. Please hold a moment while I transfer you to a specialist now. Hello, you are now chatting with Rebekah. Rebekah: Hello. My name is Rebekah, chatting with you from Colorado. So you don’t have to repeat your information, please allow me a moment to review what you’ve said so far. Guest: ok Rebekah: Thanks for waiting. What rebate questions did you have? Guest: I want to purchase LaserJet M1522NF, and on the HP website, there is a rebate for it: www.HP.com/go/S129 Guest: If I buy this printer from Office Depot, will I qualify for the rebate? Rebekah: That's a great question. The rebate can be applied to purchase through our resellers, however it can't be combined with other offers, so if they already have a discount or rebate, it can't be combined with that. Does that make sense? Guest: How do I know if the Office Deport has a discount or not? Rebekah: You would have to check with them to see if they list the M1522nf as including a rebate or special pricing. If it doesn't sale it's a discounted or sales pricing, then you would be able to use the HP mail in rebate with the printer. Guest: ok. thanks. |

Guest: ok. thanks. In that case, it leaves you to "decide" if it is discount sale or not. Besides, normally, the "combined" means normally from HP, not from the retailer. Better yet, use the "OLD" receipt ($399 one) of last week to send in the rebate for safe reason. Of course, not all of the FWers here bought it last week. People, it will be through, I have the same suituation before, and eventually, it went through w/o any glitch. |

Guest: ok. thanks. So.. $180 instant rebate considered as discount. In this case, $200 rebate will not be honored as per Rebekah's conversation. |

In think that particular term is referring to other HP rebates and offers. Almost no retailer sells at MSRP, so essentially every purchase has a instant rebate, discount, or is on sale. If they wanted to rule out all those sales, I think they'd say "only valid on printers costing more than $_____." But that's just my opinion, and it's also my opinion that I'll be getting that $200 rebate check. Time will tell! |

It was also sold out for me at OD. I found it at Staples as well. Price match was no problem and Staples is much easier to deal with for rebates anyway. I would have bought it at Staples even if OD had it stock. Buy it at Staples! Just my 2 cents. |

I agree that it should fly, because:
- I talked to the HP Rebate center on phone, confirmed that $200 rebate in the offer # S129 will apply if the printer is purchased from Office Depot. She took my name and address and gave me a confirmation number for this conversation.[/
- I got an email confirmation from HP as:
Thank you for contacting HP and Compaq Award Center. We received your inquiry on how to submit for the rebate offer.
Yes, Office Depot is a valid retailer.
May we suggest that you make copies of all information you submit for future reference.
For a list of frequently asked questions or if you would like to check the status of your rebate, please visit our website www.HP.com/go/offercenter. You may also contact us by e-mail or by phone at 1-888-385-5410. Thank you for participating in the HP and Compaq Award Rebate Program.

I played around with this today, and it's very quick compared to my Canon MP780 & HP LJ1200. Really like it. So much that I went and nabbed one at Staples. They even accepted my "phone or online only" $25 coupon. Already have an HP2600n for color work, tis is great for scans, fax, & b&w. Now I just need to wait until the other two run out of ink supplies so I can install this. Thanks again OP! |

Right now I'm debating between this printer and the M2727NF. I'm tempted to go to OD and PM the M2727NF (OM has it here for $389). It would work out to either $120 AR or $36 AR, depending on whether I could get them to take the coupon... but I'm not sure that I'm optimistic enough about the rebate actually showing up, especially with the PM on the receipt, to pull the trigger. |

Just a quick piece of info for those who haven't sent in their rebate yet. Talked with HP rebate CSR who said that they would accept a photocopy of the UPC/serial number label. I'm gonna try it & keep the printer sealed in the box (for return if necessary). Now to get the hair dryer & tweezers. |
