The form S129 located on HP.COM (here and here) has no exclusion for Office Depot. I don't see how they could possibly deny this.

Are they going to entertain the rebate? (the the price it was bought for is less than the MSRP).Although it never says but a lot of discussion in this thread says that people have problem with HP rebates if its like that. I bough the Printer from OD with on-the-spot PM and got out of store shelling out $324. Will they entertain my rebate?

Order to be delivered on 7/21/08. $324.74 including tax. We'll see. Well, just got the printer today. Onward with the rebate submission.

sunman42000 said: Hey guys, I just got this deal on Friday, but want to confirm a detail with you guys. I went to OD on Friday and they priced matched with OM on the spot. So the only receipt I have is the one that shows the purchase for $299 + tax. Is this a problem? Should I have a receipt showing the full purchase price and then have gone back for a PM so that I could send in the receipt with the full price (for the rebate). Just worried that my receipt price will throw off the rebate.
Let me know what you guys think. thanks Same with me. Any suggestions?
No one is paying close attention to Sardarji's concern. Seems Sardarjee rebate got invalidated because he purchased from OD Has anyone got validated from CC.com. Today i have mailed my documents. I'm holding 2535 for next 40 days.
As this is a BIG PM and a on a ball park each retailer like OD and CC may have lost millions of dollars. They ultimately would have pressed corporate to take some action.
OD is notorious in everything. All OD Managers do the PM when you are ready to fight with them.
Poor OM may not have sold any printers. Wish some of your rebate money to OM so that they can bring more low price without rebate items to market and we will have tons of unnecessary items on our Garages.
How come your paperwork reached so fast to HP Rebate center. Did you speedpost them? Looks like you are the first solder got hit by bullet. Don't make fun of me you would regret later.

0. Drove to the nearest Kinko's, realized I forgot my wallet, get back home.
1. Drove to the nearest Kinko's and printed the Office Max page displaying the $300 price for the M2727nf. For backup I also printed the Best Buy price, $390. (I don't have a printer!)
3. Went to the cashier, asked for the price match. She looked at the paper, made a face like, "odd, she's right", went to her computer, did a rat dance on the keyboard, came back saying: "We don't have the printer in stock, only the display item." Me: "Well I'll buy that for an additional discount." She: "We can't sell the display model until we get more. But here, let me see what nearby stores have it."
Out of five nearby stores, three had one more printer, which she explained me must be the display item, and two had two more printers. I wrote the address of those two stores and off I went.
4. Drove to the first store, went straight to the cashier with the papers. She made a face like "odd, she's right" and looked for the printer. They did have it in stock. (My heart was pounding.) She called for the manager to authorize the price match. He came, looked over the paper and made a face like "odd, she's right". Then he browsed to Office Max and he made face like "odd, she really is right" then went to look for the printer in the warehouse.
5. Manager comes with, like, a coffin on a cart. This thing is huge! He pulls the cashier aside and says (I could overhear a little) "Give the warranty and paper." Guess they want at least to bundle what they can.
6. Cashier is done helping other customers. It takes forever. I'm considering my chances of just taking the cart and running off with it out of the store. The customer just in front of me gets a lousy printer and pays through the nose for it.
7. The cashier tries to enter my purchase, can't. Calls the manager again through the intercom. I'm thinking the deal is over. Cashier takes care of a million other customers while the manager is returning.
8. The manager arrives, confers for about a few eons with the cashier, uses a key to override something, and enters the price.
9. Manager takes off and cashier has me swipe my card, hands me a pack of paper (which is ok because I didn't have any), and also gives me the OD warranty card. I didn't care for the extra warranty, but at this time I was too overwhelmed to turn it down. The whole shebang comes at $389.
10. Pushed the cart out the store, expecting at any moment that the manager and the cashier will come running and wielding butcher knives.
11. Could hardly fit the huge box in my Civic. There's no hope in the trunk, so I manage to cram it in passenger's seat. It takes away all right-hand side visibility.
12. Made it home beaming in joy. This is really my very first price match. Thanks much to this community for helping with advice.
The conclusion is that apparently *not* everybody got the infamous memo. The deal is still alive. Driving to the nearest OD store and asking the operator to look up the inventory at nearby stores might still work. FWIW, this all was happening in and around zipcode 77054.
nice post, normally by page 10 it is all a bunch of who haa

Nowhere does it say he was invalidated for "buying from OD", it says the SERIAL NUMBER wasn't included, which is required. This is common rebate center tactics. it has nothing to do with where it was purchased from.
I do not understand why people are saying "he was denied the MIR for purchasing from OD!" when the rebate rejection clearly says the reason is "serial number not included". The rebate center either overlooked it, or something else happened, but a resubmit will fix that issue.
I'm still valid, as are many others.

Hotstuff, how do you know if you're valid. I went to the site to check status and all it says is: "Your submission has been received and is being processed." The next step is: "Your rebate check is being processed." Is that where you are? Thanks.

Thanks so much. " Errors: NONE" I was going to www.HP.com/go/s129 which was on the rebate form.

I submitted a Staples easy rebate and my status is
Your rebate has completed the first 2 of 4 steps We have received your mailed submission and we are now waiting for the required service period to be completed.
What does this mean? What is the required service period?
I said it before and say it again. The HP $300 rebate is considered as BONUS. If U get it, good. If not, DON'T CRY. This printer is worth more than $300 on eBay. If noone thinks it's worth $300? Then I take it off your hand.
If it has Error(s): None, you are "valid". It's not a warranty until U see the third row titled "check info" with the date the check is mailed out I'm in for one too and I just hope for the best. In the mean time, I prepare for the worse.

Can anyone scan a copy of your receipt showing the price of the printer was $300.00? I'm trying to get a PM from OD and the manager said he needs something to confirm the price and a copy of the receipt will be sufficient. Thanks!!!

To finish my story, here's how I got a free USB cable and 250 free sheets of paper.
After being given the extended warranty with the 2727, yesterday I went to return it. The warranty consists of the following:
* A card with a barcode on it
* A box with 250 sheets of paper and a USB cable
It's the card that makes the warranty, the rest is the "welcome kit" or whatever, and comes with the warranty.
When arriving to the OD store (another one than the store that sold me the printer), I "forgot" the box in my car, and showed up only with the card at the counter. I was ready to bring it had they asked. But they didn't care about the box, so half a minute later I was in possession of $65, cable, and paper.
Speaking of the printer, a huge disappointment is that it can't do duplex scanning. This is odd because it does have a duplex feeder (e.g. it does duplex copying and printing) and you'd think they'd find a solution to use that with the scanner. But, no go. It only scans one side. To add to the annoyance, the documentation is not clear about the limitation so I spent like 15 minutes to figure out whether it was an inherent limitation or my lack of knowledge.
I bought my printer from CC online and later did a PM which went thru successfully. Sent my rebate (Offer # - S129) yesterday using USPS Priority Mail. I just cut out the whole UPS tag along with the serial number and sent it with my rebate form. The UPC says "8 83585 13801 2" and the serial no. starts with "CND#######". Hope all goes fine and I receive the check.
Edit - UPS has been corrected to say UPC

For phone orders OD is emailing the order details, indicating order is processed at third party facility, will that work as a receipt, the printer number may not be tracked back to OD, if it refer to third party, please help, thanks.

Actually they are selling for about $175 and lose money on shipping, right now.
There's lots of them on eBay for $300+ BIN; however, that's not a good indication of what it's "worth". IMHO, eBay never is, even for completed auctions, as prices vary and wildly fluctuate between auctions.
A quick searc for completed auctions shows many ended with NO bids - and not being sold at all - when the printer was $300+. There are several completed auctions with a varying final price of $169.16 - $349, with the vast majority appearing to be ~$250 or so.
Of course, when a deal like this happens, eBay tends to get flooded with the item from people who buy it from the deal here on FW, remove the UPC, send in the MIRs, then try to sell it on eBay to make additional $$$.
I hate people who do that. But, some people make quite a decent amount of cash doing so. Each to their own.

I did an online/telephone PM after I got the printers but still have not gotten the credit to my Visa account, though it was already posted on my OD order list. Anybody else in the same boat?
I heard someone had their PM denied by OD's accounting department AFTER the printer delivered, price match approved by customer service and posted online (ie. before it was processed to the customer's credit card).
i was one of those who jumped on this very early.. bought it..did the PM..got a confirmation number for 300$ PM..got the printer---rebate sent--rebate looks good. now when i see the PM credits..its only for 124$..WTF.

Well i'm now an OD victim too. did an online PM on the first day of this deal, got the printer, got the credit (to my account, not to my visa for another 5-7 business days) and then got a CSR phoning and telling me their "accounting department" refuses to honor the price and cancelled the credit. They claim that the price on the OM website is now the same price as OD so they can't do a PM. I argued and argued...they couldn't care less. Sooooo pissed off.
Be sure you have your money in your pocket, lest they take it away...
kanayo101 said: They claim that the price on the OM website is now the same price as OD so they can't do a PM... Now, the deal is back on officemax.com, Instant Savings Offer Valid 7/27 - 8/2. Yesterday 7/28, Staples accepted price match so I paid $299.99, but Store's Manager torn off the rebate printout!?
You can pick up a printed ad @ Office Max's store or check Weekly Ad online. The ad said SAVE $300 thru Aug 2 without specifying the price. The price at OM store is $599.99. Actually you pay for $299.99. Using it to ask for Price Match at Office Depot, Staples, Circuit City, but not Best Buy.

It seems to be about a week, or a bit longer, on average. I sent mine in on the 19th, and it first showed up in the system yesterday morning. I wouldn't be concerned at this point if it's only been a week.
