local dodge dealer has been advertising 1500s for 50%+ off MSRP for weeks now...

Acura is Honda, so why would you mention Acura?

Went to a dealer to see the prices for a Pathfinder. They offerred me invoice, plus the holdback, plus the $2500 rebate. Kept trying to see if I could get the $5000 off as well, no go. Now to try another dealer in the area. I have an 05 on lease now and love it. If I can upgrade to brand new for just a little more money, great deal.

OP, thank you for putting me on to this, green for you!

take a look at this review about Xterra that I found on edmund:

"In the city, it's amazing. If I am stopped at a light and the light turns green and I step on the gas, it just goes!"

lol

cheapnchong said:I don't mean to be a grinch here but be careful with car dealerships. This may be a good deal but things change quickly when you get to store. I just looked up the basic Xterra on the same Nissan site and it's MSRP is $20050.00 The ad says nothing about which model they are advertising and what options comes with it, assuming that it is the cheapest the MSRP is inflated by $5000.00. Make sure to use Edmunds.com or some independent site to validate what they "consider" MSRP. Definitely great deal otherwise.

Solid advice! And while you are at Edmons.com read the artical "Confessions of A Car Salesmen".

I doubt it... its probably just the gashogs that aren't selling and the dealers are desperate to move off the lots.

This is the one exception you can and should call on.

Corner the saleperson on the phone.

Here's my take:

"I'm calling about the advertisement you have for the ___ for $___"

"Let me check and see if it's still available."

"Okay."

(Salesman goes and gets a Twix from the Vending Machine and eats the whole thing on the way back to his desk)

"We sold that one. But we have some similar ones if you're interested."

"For the same price?"

"Well, no, because they have different equipment."

"So, are they more?"

"mmm hmmm. They have more equipment."

"I was only interested in the advertised price one."

"We sold it."

"Thanks."

"Sure."

I did call. He said they'd sold 27 vans in the past few days and had one left, MSRP was 29K, they were offering it at 20K. not bad at all.

sable said:Funny you should post this now - my hub's at the Nissan dealer right now (Chicagoland area) trying to chew them on their prices. Will try emailing him the ad to see what the salesperson thinks (before they start their houdini-like shell game w/ prices and trade ins).

RE:

Never trade in.....

OK, show me a Honda that is an Acura.

I'll take that one even though I have no interest in the arguement.

US Honda Civic = Acura CSX in canada .

There are other instances, but that is the first that pops in my head.
