I'd have to chime in as well. I have a variety of Txx's at work that I administer and I'd have to say the T6x build qualities are on par if not better than the T4x's. They may not look the best but they are well built and their support is fantastic. |

anyone know if the ram in these can be upgraded at home without voiding the warranty? Asus said no on the Eee at first, but now they're letting everyone do it. |

Does anybody know how long the battery lasts on this notebook. That is primary concern for me, as I have Acer which is the best machine for the price but HORRRRRRRRRRIBLE battery life of 1.5 hrs and then the battery died in 2 years, while laptop is still cranking. Would appreciate your thoughts and experience and then pull the trigger. Thanks |

Well, I've used the IBM/Lenovo in the past and I respect their quality. I know too many folks who are thrilled...YES...thrilled with their T61s to have a bad opinion of them. Some of the cheaper Lenovo models (3000, Y-series) may be ordinary, but the R, T, and X series are top of the line. |

On all these Atom-based netbooks, a 3-cell LION battery gives an average of about 2-3 hours running time. A 6-cell battery gives about 4-6 hours. That's assuming your doing constant web-surfing with Wifi on. Turn the Wifi off and you'll get a little more run time (probably 1/2 hour longer). I expect the Lenovo will be about the same as the MSI, EEE, Acer netbooks. Read the review links I put in an earlier post. |

cartfan said:I guess I should have put a caveat in there...IF you are going to use that netbook as your primary laptop and run XP on it, then the MSI Wind and EEE 1000H are probably the best right now. Personally, I haven't used either one of them.
I have used an EEE 900, and it's not good enough for me to consider over my "pedestrian" Acer 15" notebook as my main computer. It's OK for what it is. Something small that I can carry when I HAVE to have net access. In fact, the Linux version is fine. Don't even need XP for that.
As far as the Wind and the 1000H, here's a good comparison of the two:

Wind vs. EEE Comparison
There's lots of folks over at notebookreview.com forums who have actually used all of these things. You might want to read what they've said:

The consensus is that the Wind and EEE1000H are the best out there right now. Each has it's quirks. The Acer Atom (only the model with the HD) is a close third and most people will buy it on price. I like Acer myself, and am looking forward to trying one eventually.
The Lenovo is really too new for anybody to really have an opinion yet. In fact, Lenovo seems to be "rushing it out the door". Thanks |

Comparing IBM Thinkpads with Lenovo Thinkpads is just plain irrelevant. IBM failed at making PCs. Period. They sold the division. Judge them for what they are now. Good quality, current, even cutting-edge technology, and affordable. If you don't like Lenovos 'cause they're not like your old IBM, it's because they're not your old IBM. |

Thanks one article i read says the 3 cell is up to 3 hours while the 6 cell will be up to 6 hours...so in real life numbers i'd imagine the 3 cell is just over 2 hours and the 6 might last up to 5? just my guess... |

...there's no such a word as "failage." The truthiness of your claim is circumspect. |

I would say 10" is the sweet spot, small enough to carry around, regular keyboard and with a screen that can show a web normally. What are the current options in the 10" notebook market: MSI WIND: $550 Asus EEE: $600 Lenovo: $365 The $200 difference would buy and extra battery and another 512mb and still some cash left over. |

The $200 difference would buy and extra battery and another 512mb and still some cash left over. Or you could get the Acer Atom for $360, which already has 1GB RAM, and get another battery for it probably for even less $. Link For me, getting a netbook with anything less than a 6-cell battery would be a disappointment. I tried the EEE 900, and that was one of the things that bugged me about it. |

Finally got it to work. Lets see if Live discount works. Also ordered the Acer a couple of days ago. Will keep the better one. Thanks, OP. Already have a 12.1" Lenovo laptop and love it. EDIT: Just received an email from Live that $36.46 is my eligible CashBack. Lets see if it is indeed processed. |
