Its called the Acer Aspire ONE, Intel Atom is the CPU Me bad. I think they were calling it the "Acer Atom" as a code name before it shipped. That's probably why I keep saying it. |

This might be an okay price (I'm the guy who hates on Lenovo and missed IBM Thinkpads), but I honestly don't understand why anyone wouldn't pay maybe $100 more for a 12.1" laptop with a full performance processor (like a Core2 Duo) and even better battery life. I'm just stating an opinion - not a fact. This unit will be significantly limited in terms of what software and apps you can run compared to a portable notebook like a Z series, while suffering inferior battery life - now that's a fact. |

I think people are buying because of price and perceived value. Plus it's such a fun "gadget"....who wouldn't want one? If I had to live with one TODAY as my main lappy...I am sure I could live with the Wind or the EEE1000H. But for most folks this is another gadget, NOT the main system they're going to be using. |

Maybe not $100 more, but $150 more, sure... Cartfan said it better than I - this is a crippled laptop; small, yet crippled. But I digress and have taken this thread off topic enough. For those that find this useful or even just fun, it's a good price, and I have hence added green to the OP. |

You can add a Canon PIXMA MX310 Multifunction Photo Printer for $119.99 which as two rebates one for $40 and one for $50 (found at Lenovo.com/rebates) and get $12.00 CashBack on the printer with live.com so total cost on the printer is $17.99 plus tax. Not a bad add on in my opinion. I was told that the RAM was expandale to 4 GB total (2 x 2GB) but that Windows XP will only support 3 GB total. So I can expand up to 3 GB on this correct? Please advise. I already ordered. |

chungalee said:aztec5109 said:Does anybody know how long the battery lasts on this notebook. That is primary concern for me, as I have Acer which is the best machine for the price but HORRRRRRRRRRIBLE battery life of 1.5 hrs and then the battery died in 2 years, while laptop is still cranking.
Would appreciate your thoughts and experience and then pull the trigger.
Thanks
one article i read says the 3 cell is up to 3 hours while the 6 cell will be up to 6 hours...so in real life numbers i'd imagine the 3 cell is just over 2 hours and the 6 might last up to 5? just my guess... Thanks. Also does anyone know what is Lenovo CPP. OP mentioned it in original post that "Lenovo CPP is selling for $386", that makes things even better 386-15% Lenovo coupon is: 386-58 328 + tax for me approx $17 = 345 -10% MS Cash Back so 345 - 45= $300 FINAL. <----- Does that make sense. But I don't know what is Lenovo CPP ANyway found a link for Lenovo CPP and found a code in there but that code did not work

I've Googled every variation I can think of with the words comparison, S10, Ideapad, hands-on, review, and still haven't found a single hands on review of a working unit. My Acer Aspire One has not yet shipped, and I can cancel, so can anyone please answer these burning questions? One: Is the Lenovo's multitouch all that and a bag of chips? Two: What's the build quality comparison? I know Lenovo has been doing just fine, but these micros are a different ballgame. Three: Screens- besides the size difference, is one's superior- no bright spots? Four: Heating- does the Aspire or S10 heat and burn? (Lenovo claims they've got 'thermal management.' Bah. Let's get a third party.) Five: Keyboards- which is better? Clickier? Easier to touch type, better arrangement? The RAM difference does not bother me, nor the difference in hard drive. Those are visible on each respective product page. This clearly will not be my main PC, and another 512 of RAM is easy to come by. From the Aspire One thread, I can see that I'm not alone in nonshippedness of my order, and I think the answers to these questions will tip the balance for a lot of people. The prices are so close as to merit buying only the superior gewgaw. Go forth, and seek, FWers! These answers are out there somewhere! |
