This thing makes me tempted, but I'm really trying to hold out for the Pandora. It's in a totally different class -- ultra portable vs mini-laptop. Pandora doesn't ship until November, but I'll be patient. |

JesseLivermore said:I bought a Lenovo T61 about 4 months ago, and it is definitely a much poorer quality product versus my Thinkpad T42 - no comparison. Lenovo for the failage. In what ways is it poorer quality? The plastic? The specs? The only thing the T61 is poorer in quality in is the screen but its a very well known problem. The screen looks crappy but then again its designed for people who use MS Word and non multimedia programs. So what are you expecting buying a business laptop with superior battery life? A friend of mine has the T61 and in the time that i've played with it, its a great laptop. I really doubt you compared the laptops by anything other than how the screen looked. But you could of found that out by spending 5 mins on google reading reviews before buying. |

i am disappointed in the thickness of these new netbooks. They mostly have a wedge shaped profile and thus even though their smallest dimension is like .8 in., their biggest dimension goes up to 1.3-1.5 inches. can't find the thickness on this one. These 10 inchers are becoming too close in dimension to my 12 in. Dell d420...1 in thick all around and weighs 3 lbs. |

8.9" vs 10.2" Not the same! |

I'm surprised more people aren't asking about keyboards. As far as I can tell the main point of differentiation even within a particular screen size is the keyboard. A difference of 0.5" between the "A" and "L" keys is a lot when it comes to typing more than a few lines. The HP Mini-Note has a fantastic keyboard. Pity it is expensive and let down by the Via processor. (Its screen resolution is tops). Anyone know how large the Lenovo 10.2" keyboard is relative to Acer Aspire One and HP? The Asus EEE 900 is slightly smaller than HP. |

Not the same! I second this. 10.2" potentially has larger keyboard. As for as I can tell, the keyboard should be comfortable if Lenovo uses the similar design as thinkpad X61. To me, X61's keyboard is most comfortable among 12" laptops. |

very true. IBM thinkpads were the bread and butter of businesses. they are reliable, have great keyboards, and had 3 year warranty as part of the deal w/ no extra cost! but now, with Lenovo running the show, they aren't. my friend had a t61 by Lenovo, and it was the worst experience he had. I had to step in to try to help him. I bought my wife a old thinkpad t43p off eBay. works beautifully, and like I said, wonderful keyboard. |

HanoverFisk said:Saw a review on Toms Hardware that matched up the Atom against AMD's new low power chip and AMD beat the Atom. Less power consumed, cheaper, better performing. Actually the Atom chip its self used less power but with the chipset as a system used more power. The chip set used with the Atom is antiquated. The AMD chipset has many more features and ports. Atom components are smaller and better suited to these micro laptops though. The only problem with that review is that it's hard to find a netbook using AMD in the configuration they suggest. In fact, I don't think one exists. |
