Update: On the phone with Lenovo and a rep tried to place the order with the same result. He "checked" and was made aware that Lenovo was working the issue as we speak. I let him take my order and he stated he would enter it as soon as it was fixed...we will see.
Lenovo's reputation is solid and I am sure the build quality is there.
But I am witholding an order until I get my hands on one, or at least talk to somebody that I trust and get their opinion.
Of all the netbooks on the market right now, if I had to buy one today, I would stick with the MSI Wind or EEE 1000H. Everything else is too much of a compromise.
I bought a Lenovo T61 about 4 months ago, and it is definitely a much poorer quality product versus my Thinkpad T42 - no comparison. Lenovo for the failage.

cartfan - i am really tempted to get this, but your post kind of had me thinking...if you dont mind, could you post a couple of points on why you prefer msi wind and the 1000h...i am really keen to get one, especially at this price point...
I guess I should have put a caveat in there...IF you are going to use that netbook as your primary laptop and run XP on it, then the MSI Wind and EEE 1000H are probably the best right now. Personally, I haven't used either one of them.
I have used an EEE 900, and it's not good enough for me to consider over my "pedestrian" Acer 15" notebook as my main computer. It's OK for what it is. Something small that I can carry when I HAVE to have net access. In fact, the Linux version is fine. Don't even need XP for that.
As far as the Wind and the 1000H, here's a good comparison of the two:
The consensus is that the Wind and EEE1000H are the best out there right now. Each has it's quirks. The Acer Atom (only the model with the HD) is a close third and most people will buy it on price. I like Acer myself, and am looking forward to trying one eventually.
The Lenovo is really too new for anybody to really have an opinion yet. In fact, Lenovo seems to be "rushing it out the door".

I've had Thinkpads since my old 600e. I'm using a X60 right now. The Lenovo Thinkpads are built as well as any Thinkpad I've ever had. There better built if anything. I've busted a few older Thinkpads. My X60 has been around the world twice in my backpack. The black paint is rubbed off and it's still cranking along like a champ. There's a blemish on the screen where a pebble got stuck between the keyboard and the screen while I was in a sandstorm, but that's user error.

First, there's no such a word as "failage."
Second, IBMs and Lenovos are the #1 brand if you ask any tech guru or check out any online computer review site. Their models, even the aging ones, always come out in the top 5 of all notebook models reviewed.
If my company asked me to recommend a laptop, I would ONLY say Lenovo.
Lenovos are like Hondas and Toyotas. They may never ever look as sexy as an Asus Lamborghini, Acer Ferrari, or Sony Vaio, but they are built EXCEPTIONALLY durable and sturdy! Well maybe not as durable as Panasonic Toughbooks, but the Lenovo model OP posted costs a fraction of the Toughbook's. I have yet to successfully (intentionally) damage a Lenovo, besides drops and spills. Their screen has no flex and their keyboard is amazing! Some very smart, innovative engineers are responsible for Lenovos.
