oops - eBay is 299 + 10 shipping. Amazon is a better deal. Good deal if you need one now. Thanks OP. And yes, this seems to be a repost. A bunch of reposts on this deal...
This is a really great deal. Of all the car GPS units especially for travel this is the one to have. This model used to be very expensive. New units have not improved upon it. For travel to EU this is also very useful and at this price not much more expensive than a US only unit. Has TTS (speaks street names).
Some have faulted it because it pronounces foreign streets with english pronunciation. I must say that I like this feature, because I am a native english speaker and when driving in a foreign country I am reading street signs and comparing them to the voice of the GPS. So being an ignorant american they sound like I am reading them on the GPS. Yes you aren't going to improve your french with this thing, but Its not a diction coach, its a device to find your way from point A to point B. If you are a native speaker of a foreign language this would by annoying though.
1. Easy to use 2. Good maps including a good world wide basemap that is routable. 3. Garmin does update the maps so the unit can be kept current (at a cost) 4. Small enough to keep in pocket when traveling or leaving car (the new larger units are too big) 5. Among the best at routing (Mio is awful at least where I live) 6. Has small useful functions like ability to see satellite status screen (most of the new units you cant). 7. Bluetooth speaker phone 8. Car AND Home charger and case are standard 9. Okay battery life when not plugged in 10. Fold out antenna allows fast use GPS off (for browsing map, looking at POI's on airplanes for example). 11. Optional Travel Guides and translators 12. MP3 and photo viewier if you care about such things.
