If you read the fine print, you don't get a $5 instant rebate that's applied to the purchase, but a $5 coupon code for use later. The advertising tricks you into believing that you're getting a rebate when it's only a coupon code. I hate trickery like this. That's why I left the advertising/marketing field. I just couldn't sleep well at night.

Do you know how much you need to spend before you can apply the $5 off coupon code?

Yes, once you submit the review and email eforcity with details, you will get a coupon code for $5 off a future purchase. The $5 code requires a min of $20 purchase to be applied.
I ordered this last night; submitted my review after getting order confirmation; got the coupon code this morning. Yes, i agree that they should mention that there is a min and that is off a future purchase and that there is an expiration.
With my usual purchases from eforcity being less than $10, may not wind up using this coupon. But $6+ shipped for an enclosure after MS Casback is still a decent deal.
Super simple questions: putting an internal hard drive in this makes it becomes an external hard drive? If that's the case, what's the disadvantage of doing so? (cooling maybe?)
Mine seems DOA. Even after plugging both USB's into laptop, the HD doesn't spin. The LED only shows a very brief red light and that is it. I see on eforcity's website that it was supposed to come with screws which I don't remember receiving. I did get the screwdiver though... Maybe mine is a dud returned by another customer?
