I think this thread can safely be marked "dead". Unfortunately.

But Black Friday is coming.

It isn't a hot deal, but if you are still trying to get the Aspire 1 with 120 hdd, looks like AAFES started getting their shipments in. Langley AFB put one out on display today. I asked the clerk and he said they just got them today. $349.00

thanks for the tip.

lol. I have a friend in college who told me a funny story. He was in a study area and saw someone using the Acer One. It was so loud due to the cheap-o fan and defective fan control design one of the school works there told him to turn it off. LOL!!!

We have seven of them, both 120GB and 160GB versions and not one has that problem. And we do not use any aftermarket fan control, we use them just as they came.

is this troll always this useless? or does he just hate netbooks?

From what I can tell, he has been since early to mid 2006.

I've got one of these.. the 160 GB 6 cell version from Costco and the fan makes essentially NO noise. I can hear it running at times, but it's as quiet as someone exhaling.

If Onion's really makes that much noise, it must be defective and he (she) should return or exchange it.

It's a great little PC that fits into a coat pocket!

checkout Lenovo s10 at fry's recently and the quality is SSSSSOOOOOO much better than asus eeepc and acer one. fry's had the s10 for $350 512mb 80gb or $400 1gb 160gb. so check out the Lenovo's before you jump into the asus and acers

While I have never been a huge fan of acer keyboards I was floored how much tighter the keys respond on the Lenovo. Actually doesn't the Lenovo have the best onboard video among all the netbooks right now?

Lenovo keyboards are forge directly by the gods. Nothing comes close. I have an Asus. I game on the Asus, but I use my X60 for everything else. I only wished my X60 could game like a netbook.

What is the best method to install software into this thing? I don't have a USB CDROM. Is there anyway I can hook it up to my desktop by using a CAT cable and access the desktop CDROM that way?

You could share the CD-Rom on your desktop over a wireless network if you have one.
You could share the CD-Rom on your desktop over a wired (router/Hub) if you have one.
You could use a USB flash drive
You could purchase an external USB CD-Rom for $17 on eBay from Hong Kong.
You could connect the 2 computers via the network cards using a "crossover" cable, not a normal Cat-5 Tutorial HERE

Holy thread revival.

While we're here, I'm using my AAO Netbook MORE than my regular notebook.

So, yes, this was a smoking deal, and the netbook is for real, not a fad, IMO.
