Why does it say "dual firewire 400" - is that like if I wanted to hook up this one drive to two computers? |

Canceled my order, too. Darn generous for them to offer a 10% discount good for one whole week... Wow. They wait 5 (4 business) days to let me know that an item is not available, then offer me 10% that I HAVE to use within a week. If one thought of Seagate as being underhanded (versus plain old incompetent), one could conceive of the situation where they offer something with an implied delivery time frame (3-7 days), wait for a good amount of those days to go by, then cancel with the hopes that some of those who ordered NEED that item quickly... I don't think they are that evil. However, I cannot say the same about their competency as far as taking and keeping orders. (For some reason I can hear Jerry Seinfeld saying "You know how to TAKE the reservation, but I don't think you know how to KEEP a reservation....") OK - I've cooled down a bit... The thing that bothers me about this is that they managed to hit my credit card, and still have a hold on it. Granted, it's not a $10,000 hold (I ordered one drive), but if you are going to grab/hold my money, you'd best get me the item ordered, or a reasonably close item. And even cooled down a bit, I don't regret the note I sent them below... I did send them a note via a link in the cancellation email. I suspect it will not be successful.
-------------------- Sir/Madam, I just received notice that my order with Seagate (#30000xxxxx) has been canceled due to "high demand." I am not happy. First, let's discuss high tech, and the concept of online, real time inventory. It's been in use by many companies for many years. I expect a high tech company such as Seagate to use such "advanced" technology. Second, you entice buyers to your site with a deal, then renege on the deal, and offer a lousy 10% discount on an order in the next week?!? I don't want a 10% discount on a full priced item that I must hurriedly buy in the next week - I want the external hard drive that we made a deal on earlier this week. Yes - we made a deal. I ordered the item, and Seagate put a hold on my credit card for the agreed upon amount. Because of Seagate, I DID NOT HAVE USE OF THOSE FUNDS. In fact, I still do not have use of the funds as of the writing of this note. As far as I am concerned, that is the same as my paying you for the item. I don't want a 10% discount - I want that hard drive. If you cannot deliver that hard drive due to sub-par order/sales practices at Seagate, then I will accept at item of equal quality/capacity/utility for the same amount you have already hit my credit card for. I have been a happy customer of Seagate int the past, having purchased and used both Seagate internal and external storage devices. I have also recommended purchase of the same devices at work, and to friends and family. I hope you will do the right thing and keep this customer happy. -------------------- |

They are short of storage to keep the real time inventory system as you can see. People bought everything out. Oh my god, this is like in USSR before it broke, people bought everything out and the store shelves were empty. I have a feeling something is going to happen here, seagate is about to brake in pieces. Who's to blame? It is the politics of maxtor. Oh stupid seagate president, a lot of people are going to blame you eventually...... |

"There aren't any left." And my response to him/her would be a simple "then get me something similar at the same price point, or something at the same cost per GB. SURELY they have SOME drives left! |
