I received my two 120gb drives on Tuesday. They shipped out from Dallas on Monday. So I would say they ship the drives from the warehouse closest to where you are.
My shipping info indicates Fort Worth as the place of origin. That is what I meant Forth Worth. Dallas/Forth Worth, all the same to me. |

Cisco said: weirder it gets OT his previous sales show him selling cash and money orders $625 for $720 and $1075 for $1200. Now thats profit, but probably illegal to mail cash? see gotta see whats left in my wallet to list, oops no cash left fat with credit cards though He was probably taking advantage of the MS Live Cash Back to make a profit off of cash and equivalents. There was up to 35% Cash Back and at that percentage both items would eventually cost the buyer less than their "face value". Now that is an easier and bigger profit but may run afoul of the eBay/Paypal folks (see other eBay CashBack thread for much teeth grinding on that front these days). |

When I placed my order on Seagate.com, I used my Chase credit card. That card didn't go thru as other people reported. So I used Capital One credit card which I never use for anything. Tonight, when I checked Capital One credit card account there is some unauthorized charge for $122.xx from Overstock.com. I never purchased from Overstock.com. Also, I never used this Capital one credit card in past 9 months. I am suspecting, some one from Seagate.com got my payment info and used it? Anyone else had this issue? Purchase from Seagate.com order amount(+ $5.xx) is still pending. Check your credit card transactions. |

Canceled! "We would like offer you a special promotion to accommodate you for any inconvenience. For a limited time (through September 5, 2008), you will be eligible to receive a 10% discount off the sales price of your next order from Seagate.com. Simply type in the promo code ******** during checkout to take advantage of this offer." Right, a 10% off coupon doesn't make up for free shipping and a killer deal. Thanks Seagate. |

I just noticed that the hold was gone from my card, but no cancellation email is in my box. Also, clicking the link in the order confirmed email showed my order as canceled. I will have no problem moving on to the next deal (and the next hard drive company). I would have liked to see Seagate handle this better from a logistical standpoint, but oh well... |

Pretty bad to cancel an order 4 DAYS after it was made of a product that was in stock at the time. The 10% off coupon is worthless. |

Sending me %10 off coupon is like spitting in my face. I have always like seagate, nice frives, nice warranty, nice company. It is OK to cancel my order, think happen, they ran out. But it is not OK to send me %10 off, it is like laughing at meor like throwing me a bone like I am a dog. |

Pretty weak. Both of my 120gb drives were cancelled. Seagate, you're a huge company and you can't even keep track of your own inventory? I find that hard to believe. They probably just kept most of the stock back. On to Western Digital. |

I know it says portable hard drive, but could I use this as a normal external hard drive. I know this seems like a silly question. I just figure if someone puts "portable" on the box, there must be a difference. Ive never had an external hard drive and really would love to back up my computer incase anything were to happen. Most externals I find are much more expensive so I didnt know what the difference was between 'portable' and not portable. I have a lot of backed up video files , digital pictures and music that Id love to get off my main computer and free up some room. Thanks. (I was going to grab a 320...guess they are all gone huh?) |

Canceled. I wrote the following in their comment form (I suspect the reply will be "thank you for the response... sorry for the inconvenience... enjoy your life"): ------------ Sir/Madam, I just received notice that my order with Seagate (#30000xxxxx) has been canceled due to "high demand." I am not happy. First, let's discuss high tech, and the concept of online, real time inventory. It's been in use by many companies for many years. I expect a high tech company such as Seagate to use such "advanced" technology. Second, you entice buyers to your site with a deal, then renege on the deal, and offer a lousy 10% discount on an order in the next week?!? I don't want a 10% discount on a full priced item that I must hurriedly buy in the next week - I want the external hard drive that we made a deal on earlier this week. Yes - we made a deal. I ordered the item, and Seagate put a hold on my credit card for the agreed upon amount. Because of Seagate, I DID NOT HAVE USE OF THOSE FUNDS. In fact, I still do not have use of the funds as of the writing of this note. As far as I am concerned, that is the same as my paying you for the item. I don't want a 10% discount - I want that hard drive. If you cannot deliver that hard drive due to sub-par order/sales practices at Seagate, then I will accept at item of equal quality/capacity/utility for the same amount you have already hit my credit card for. I have been a happy customer of Seagate int the past, having purchased and used both Seagate internal and external storage devices. I have also recommended purchase of the same devices at work, and to friends and family. I hope you will do the right thing and keep this customer happy. ------------ |

DealBum said:I know it says portable hard drive, but could I use this as a normal external hard drive. Yes you can. Usually, portable hard drives are more expensive because they are smaller and does not require an external power source besides the USB. Also, you rarely see 320GB+ portable hard drives. But since this one is only $20, you can of course use it as a hard drive. It's like using a laptop at home instead of a desktop. Hope that helps! |
