Mine was canceled as well... I don't see how they could not have a real-time inventory system. |

ipitydafoo said:Pretty weak. Both of my 120gb drives were cancelled. Seagate, you're a huge company and you can't even keep track of your own inventory? I find that hard to believe. They probably just kept most of the stock back.
On to Western Digital. I have a better idea, limit the number of drives to one per address. |

Is there no way for the community to hold Seagate responsible for filling their orders? I ordered mine about 30 seconds after the post appeared on FW and they kept taking orders for drives for quite a while after mine. When did those of you who got yours place your orders? |

Are you trying to say that an inventory system can't keep up with a huge volume of orders? Oh come on!! Its just a matter of the ordering system communicating each order to the inventory system. When the inventory system runs out of stock, it rejects the order immediately. Seems pretty simple to me, unless a company is too disorganized to keep an accurate inventory count, then its not so easy. Haven't you ever shopped on-line and they tell you how many are in-stock before you even put it in your cart? |

Dear Seagate: I'm very unhappy that you cancelled this order because lack of inventory. I would think a high tech company such as Seagate would have a real time inventory system working in conjunction with your ordering system. In this situation the correct customer service would be to: 1. offer an equivalent or upgraded product at the same price for immediate shipment. 2. place on backorder if inventory is expected within 30 days. 3. combination of the above. Anything less than fulfilling the original offer or substituting for an equivalent offer is unsatisfactory. Cancelling the order is a renege. And the weak offer that you sent for 10% off only adds insult to injury. Regards, |

Haven't you ever shopped on-line and they tell you how many are in-stock before you even put it in your cart? Do you realize the amount of computing power it takes to run a database that large, much less being hit as though it was being DDoS'ed, a lot the time the CPU usage runs from 40% to 80% on a good day. But I could have sworn you said to them it would be OK with you to cancel if that happened and you would not object right? I mean after all you can't place an order without accepting that as an agreement. So why all the anger? If anything they should be complaining to you about you harassing them for not doing what you said you would |
