weird, I had to set my VCC limit to around $3000 to get an order in for around $2500. I hope they don't really charge the full 3 grand. |

How to take out the drive (so you can, for example, use it to upgrade a laptop SATA drive): Photos and notes Comments from here by someone who used those photos and description: The trick was to use the edge of a thin metal ruler to wedge up the seam at the bottom just enough to slide the edge of a credit card into the crack.
The sweet spot is at the front of the case along that seam and on the opposite side of the case from the logo. Applying a surprising amount of pressure was necessary, but that's the one area along the seam that isn't blocked inside the case.
Pushing the card in at that corner popped the first clip. Then I got my fingers into it and popped the other two clips.
Aside from an almost undetectable mark where I used the metal ruler as a lever, the case is pristine. |

Thanks iceui2 - got the 120 Gb. I paid a few bucks more for a 120 Gb WD portable over a year ago (after PM, rebates etc) but that recently started giving me grief... |

So you know... For Seagate FreeAgent Go, Maxtor OneTouch 4 mini, Maxtor OneTouch III mini, and Seagate Portable drives: Connect the two USB plugs to the USB ports on rear of the computer.
Connect the other end of the cable to the drive. These drives derive all their power from the USB connection. If the drive is clicking and/or beeping, it needs more power so connect both USB plugs. Or connect it via one connector to a powered USB 2.0 hub, which should provide enough power. Cnet review One review said It does take up 2 USB ports but it can run mine off one. It goes slower but it still works fine. One USB is for power and one is for data so if they share one it will decrease the speed. Also, because it draws power from the computer it will drain a laptop battery faster than one you plug into the wall. But any 2.5 hard drive will do that. |
