Thanks OP - in for 2. Great price. Note - it may seem a bit small (re. today's sizes) and it may seem unportable (adapter required), but that's why the great price. It is 7200 and quite reliable. Both my own experience & friends' comments tells me it's good. I though immediately of friends/relatives with somewhat older, smaller PCs that may need backup drives - this would make a great gift.

All External Hard Drives (if they're not portable) requires AC power. If it is small, that's a good thing.
Since when is a Seagate external at $45 a good deal when a 500gb WD Mybook is $90 ? Or is it a FW effect, if some think its a good deal, you gotta hop on ?

Since when is a 500GB WD MyBook at $90 a good deal when a 1TB Maxtor is $140?
Usually, most people don't need a such a large external hard drive when all you have is a few pictures, a few MP3 files, and some documents. It's like... the more you buy, the cheaper it gets. Some people are never going to fill up 500GB, so 250GB is enough.
These 250GB hard drives also usually cost a lot (more per/GB than a 500GB), so $45.98 shipped is a good deal.

From Seagate.com FreeAgent™ Desktop External Hard Drive 250GB - USB 2.0 ST302504FDB1E1-RK Key Features and Benefits
* Up to 1TB storage capacity (Now can a WD Mybook do this?) * Software to copy all your files for safekeeping * 5-year limited warranty * Customizable power-saving feature * USB 2.0 interface * PC and Mac compatible
Both my adult daughters need more external storage and these take care of some early Xmas shopping for them.
Incidentally, only an additional $2 for shipping on the second one to Virginia ($9.99 total for the 2), although I DID have to pay VA sales tax. Excellent deal.
