Used to be 20% off with $25 maximum. Now it's 25% off with $50 maximum.

How it Works

Beginning August 24, 2008 through September 30, 2008 you can receive 25% Cash Back with no minimum purchase* at www.officemax.com when you use PayPal as a payment method.

* Shop online for your back-to-school items with OfficeMax.
* Once you have confirmed your order, click on the "Checkout" button.
* On the "Secure Checkout" page where you select your method, select PayPal and click on the "Next" button.
* You will be taken to the PayPal Login page where you can login to your PayPal account. You will see a message here that tells you may be eligible for Cash Back. Enter your password and log in.
* Review your information on the following page. Here you will see a message to inform you if your purchase has qualified for the Cash Back promotion. To ensure that your purchase is eligible for the offer, it must be completed no later than September 30, 2008. To receive the offer, you must use a U.S. PayPal account in good standing. The maximum amount of Cash Back per PayPal account is limited to $50 USD.
* Continue to the next page to confirm your transaction on the Office Max site.
* The Cash Back payment will be deposited into your PayPal account by September 30, 2008.

It doesn't even work for most of us...many created new PP account to get this to work. OK deal if PP work with your OfficeMax order.

Not sure why, but they wouldn't (or couldn't) authorize my PayPal payment.
I am verified and have a confirmed address.
I'll have to try with a new PP account as suggested.

Or you could simply have Paypal fix it as I did But why do it the easy way?

Live is kind of screwy. I had three orders in right now that I am going to have to wait for the week then email and have them fix. And they fixed on last week. Some stores show the CashBack right away, some don't at all.

How did PP fix it for you? I emailed them both yesterday but have not heard back from either PP or OM.

My past contacts with PP have been less than fruitful.
Not sure why you consider dealing with PP "the easy way"

does not work, even when all looks correct. ..any
"discounts" are deducted before any "credit"... even then
no actual $ is later received

At the website TeachaDeal there is a step by step description of using Paypal payment 25% back, a $20 rebate and the $30 gas card to get the Brother HL-2140 for Free. Actually make $5 before tax.

(It starts out at $59.99 - $15 the 20%back from paypal, -20 Rebate -$30 Gas Card = $-5)

I placed an order and it showed in the paypal payment screen as valid for the 25% back,

Sometimes you need to fight a little to get the money back and end up with a free item. Thats all part of the game!

My purchased via a paypal said it was eligible and that I would be paid by 10/31 and also got the live that said I was eligible for a 6-10% CashBack.

Has anyone had a problem paying via PayPal and getting MS CashBack?

I signed up for the MS CashBack and saw this in their FAQs:

Q: Can I use an alternative payment method (i.e. PayPal, Google Checkout, etc.) when I purchase from the Store and still get my CashBack savings?
A: We can't guarantee that your purchase will be reported to us correctly if you use an alternative payment method. We're always looking to improve our service and will continue to work to support other alternative payment methods in the future.
