What is the advantage of these video cameras over most digital cameras on the market? Most cameras can do 640x480 video, some can even do optical zooming while recording (which Flip cameras cannot). Plus of course digital cameras can take still shots much better than this, nearly everyone has a digial camera already, and you don't need to carry an extra gadget with you to do stills and video.

This is a one-trick pony that is aimed at people who want to do one thing: make and share short video clips (think: the YouTube crowd). Digital cameras are certainly more versatile and real video cams take much better footage, but this device is small, produces video that doesn't have to be painfully resized for YouTube, and makes it easy to get it from the camera into the computer.
thanks to chuq who started a "repost" thread for this. i would not know the deal was still alive without that repost.
i got one and used my dpa. hopefullly they'll send me an e&a coupon with my statement in time for black friday. last year i keep a small revolving balance on my dpa acct and paid a few bucks interest overall, but got Dell coupons with just about every monthly statement. those coupons saved me $100s of dollars for canon lenses, monitors and other things i really wanted.

It's good for someone needing no more than about 25 minutes of recording time, but I'd rather pay more and have the ability to record longer since this unit does not have a memory card slot and I'd want to get more than 25 minutes if I'm going to carry it along with my digicam.
