Since the $50 rebate is good until 9/4 I wonder if they will come out with a new upgrade rebate. |

iSeeInPics said:I just looking for something cheap I can use to burn audio books onto my MP3. Everything I've tried has played the books back in some random order... not in order like a book should be. Any suggestions appreciated I have a suggestion/thought regarding audio books and mp3 players: Remember that the mp3 files have 2 different filenames: the old style 8.3 name, and the newer long name. (If you open a command prompt, and do a "DIR /X" on the directory, you'll see both names.) Because they are different, it's very likely that the long names don't sort in the same way that the short names do. I suspect that your mp3 player is playing them in shortname order, which means that you will need to somehow rename the file in the correct order. (One way is download a program to do it. Another way is to select all the files and right click, and rename the first one with a 4 character name, and the rest will be renamed, also.) Hope it helps. |

Any suggestions appreciated I'm thinking the name of the file has something to do with that. Are you trying to burn MP3s to a disk? or rip a disk to your PC and then put on an MP3 player? |

In for one. Even if I never install it, it will qualify me for next year's version 9 rebate. And it's gonna cost me nothing but two stamps... I use version 7 at work quite a bit, even though it's a resource hog, my bad-ass work rig can handle it. |

I did a rebate on Nero 8 this month at Newegg . This is a different promotion but the rebate says " limit one per household " ..... is that 1 rebate per lifetime at that household , or 1 per promotion or what ? Would hate to lose $50 . |

whats the difference between Nero essentials and Ultra? I have never understood....can it burn DVDs in all source formats? If all you need is a DVD burner program, Essentials is fine. If you want a lot of newer multimedia features, including full Blu-ray playback support, you want Ultra. Here's a link to the comparison chart: Link to comparison chart P.S. - Click on the "Comparison Chart" tab on that page. May have to scroll down a bit to see it. |

I use version 7 at work quite a bit, even though it's a resource hog, my bad-ass work rig can handle it. Nero Ultra 7 is a resource hog and Ultra 8 is even worse. But for some things, it's essential For example, I can use Nerovision 3, make fast cut-edits to captured MPEG-2 files, without having to re-render anything, then burn it straight to DVD. The turn-around time is very fast, even on older hardware. Haven't found anything else that is as efficient and as integrated as Nero Ultra 7 for what I do under Windows. Mac is a different story. |
