This does seem too good to be true, but electronicadirect.com has 2 GTX 260 video cards for very low prices, and Live.com currently is offering 20% cash-back from electronicadirect.com

EVGA GTX260 896MB DDR3 $175.39

EVGA GTX260 SC 896MB DDR3 $179.99

ResellerRatings for ElectronicaDirect

EVGA may not honor the Warranty or Step-Up program since I don't think Electronica Direct is one of their official resellers.

UUDDLRLRBAStart mentioned this on another forum in a thread started by wolf2009.

Edit: Out of stock now.

This was originally at Amazon (according to the TechPowerUp forums).. but I'm in for one. Too good to pass up.

GREAT DEAL... if I could SLI - I would be all over this!

sooooooooo tempted......

On their website it says the product includes full US warranty thou...

has anyone ever deal with electronica direct before?

Newegg just lowered their price to $179AR.

I'm going to order another with the live CashBack link..

There's something weird with Newegg's site. It states that the original price is $239 and add to cart to see the price. But when I added it to cart, it's $298!

i see it as $249.90 After $40 rebate on Newegg

This card is still just about the same if not slower than the Radeon HD 4850 (which goes for $155 AR at newegg). Why get this one?

Yeah they just changed it AGAIN back to $249 AR.

GTX 260 > 4850.

The 260 and the 4870 are closer.

http://www.techspot.com/review/109-geforce-gtx-260-280-versus-radeon-4850-4870/page11.html

gtx260 seems about even with 4870, and beats the 4850 handily. plus, the SC is overclocked, so it should be even better

frankly, before this deal i was leaning towards 4870, but so much for that =D

Argh.. mine hasn't.

very nice card.

make sure your power supply has 2 x PCI-E 6 pin power plugs (or you get enough power adapters)

this thing will NOT run without both power plugs hooked in

Many, many reasons even if you don't consider that this card is probably a bit faster. Most of the reviews that suggest getting a 4850 over a gtx 260 were if the 4850 cost less than 199 and the GTX 260 around 299.

I think it depends a lot on if people have or plan to get boards that support SLI/Crossfire. Also most of the ATI rebates only work for one item and many people want to get at least two at this price or have already used the rebate on a differnt card, or just don't like rebates.

Also the person may already have one GTX 260 so this is more valuable to them for SLI, or they have a 8 or 9 series geforce and will be able to use the extra card as a physics processor when the new drives come out.

It could also depend on what game(s) the person wants the card for since nvidia/ati have different performance in differnt games, even more so when you take Crossfire/SLI profiles into account.

Their is also brand preference for both the chipset and the board maker. A big reason for me always going NVidia is that my two favorite manufactures right now are XFX and EVFGA which both are known to have great customer service and warranty. Before they became so highly regarded BFG had the best service and warranty in my experience and they also were mostly an NVidia shop.

Resolution and AA/Filtering options can make a big difference too since the cards scale differently, this card should certainly be faster at the resolution that is native to my 24

Eight pages of discussion about this deal over at SD. Hope springs eternal. Has a strong price mistake aroma to me.

At times I wonder again at my 8800GT that was 160, but then the only thing I can call advantage is the lowest power usage of the high end level video cards.

I'm trying to find more reasons to keep my 8800GT D: but I keep seeing these deals D:

If you're on a 19" or smaller, you're fine.

20" or higher, you might want to upgrade if you want the eye candy turned up.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your recent order with our company for the EVGA896P31262AR video card.

We sincerely regret to inform you that we will be unable to supply you with this card at the current time. We have oversold our available inventory and unfortunately EVGA is out of stock on this piece. It is an end of life product for them.

Due to an error on the manufacturer and distribution level the product sold at an unanticipated rate. We have attempted for the past few days to source the product but were not successful. We have therefore canceled your order, and if there were any charges, we have refunded your credit card account.

We hope to continue to be your source for electronics and computer needs as we have been faithfully over the past many years.

Thank you,
Becky G.

the negative reviews on resellerratings.com are flowing in. I'm waiting until they say both my cards were cancelled before I leave my negative review.
