WHERE does it end?????? I wish we have a Fry's store close by. I am getting really tired of the self-appointed SD police stuff. I only read FW postings and nothing else. Thanks OP. May have to drive a little bit to the next town if I am desperate enough to jump on this deal. |

Anyone knows if this is any good? I read that some Emprex are rebadged Optiarc (Sony/NEC), but can't confirm for this model.
The Emprex 20x burners are rebadged Optiarc AD-7190x drives, which themselves are rebadged Lite-On DH-20A3x drives.
One more time:
The Emprex is really an Optiarc which is really a Lite-On.
And yes, they are good, although now officially discontinued. Optiarc's latest and greatest is the AD-720x series, which has brought back the genuine NEC glory (no more rebadges). Lite-On is going to release new 22x burners within the next few days (literally), and is no longer making the 20A3 drives. This is still a good deal despite that.In the L. A. Times saturday Fry's ad they are selling the HP 20x Internal 1040i DVD-/+RW Drive With LightScribe Technology $20 - after $10 rebate, ends Tue. It's also on-line here: FRYS.com |

Good info; I usually stay away from Emprex drives because I thought they were rebadged BTC drives, which are the worst on the market. If they are rebadged Sony/NEC/Lite-On, that's worth buying. |

The Big Bang
Without some kind of details from both mother and father, it's not really fair of us to characterize it as "the Big Bang." |

Agree. These religious SD patrol trolls are like the fundamentalists from a religion, preaching and yelling how much better they are because they are "moral" in a self righteous tone. Of course, their rules don't apply to their own SD site, where they steal from sites like FW without giving any credit. Hypocrisy is what these SD police trolls are. |

Can anyone compare the Emprex with the HP SATA burner? If the HP is $5 more AR, does the Emprex have Lightscribe? I think for $5 more it would be fun to have the Lightscribe feature. Can the emprex, being Sony/Lite-on be flashed to do Lightscribe as well? I mainly do audio CDs, some DVDs. I need SATA since my older burner is PATA hooked up via USB. Not enough IDEs on my new computer. Thanks guys M |

$45 AR - Antec NeoHe 550W Power Supply ($50 Rebate) The current price is 65$ no rebate. If it will be 45$ AR after 50$ rebate, that means it will have to INCREASE in price by 30$ ! Pretty sneaky. |
