Do you guys prefer extended warranty with 40-46" LCD TV's? Fry's is selling 5 year extended warranty for $159 (when the TV is around $1000-$1200 range), Amazon is selling TV's for best prices all the time (if you consider no tax), but they don't provide service, you feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Thanks. Depends on situation really .... the brand , and the price vs who is doing the warranty coverage . I just did the extra warranty for a Panasonic plasma for my mom , as she is up there in years and the in-house service is kind of an added protection for various reasons . $160 is fairly cheap (on the good side)for 5yrs , and its not like Frys is going to go out of buisness any time soon . Just make sure to READ the small print as to what all the warranty covers . |

Thanks stereo55, Yeah, its a good idea, I should read fine print properly before jumping in. Bestbuy and Circuit are charging more for this, probably their coverage is better. |

vws said:p0tempkin said:Newegg has the OEM Q6600 CPUs for $180 shipped, with 93% 5-star reviews. The motherboard is actually decent since it uses an NVIDIA chipset; it has decent built-in video and options. But you can always sell the motherboard and drop the net price of the CPU even lower.
Also, since it uses a 1066MHz FSB speed (as opposed to the 1333MHz FSB of the newer Intel quad-cores), it can be overclocked VERY EASILY using a small piece of electrical tape (it's called a BSEL mod, Google it). ECS GF7050VT-M doesn't need the BSEL mod to overclock the 1066-FSB CPUs. The BIOS menu offers FSB/memory clock adjustment down to MHz steps, either "linked" or "unlinked". Anyone can overclock with this board right out the box to the limit where the stock CPU voltage can support. The mobo doesn't support CPU voltage adjustment but one can always find the CPU voltage mod trick via google. One major negative of this board is it's single-channel memory bottleck. It cripples the CPU-memory performance severely so take note if you intend to use this combo to do intensive data computation (e.g. video processing).
BTW, Fry's no longer offers retail-boxed Q6600 in the combo deal. And recent 2008 batches are mediocre overclockers at best - don't expect to get them over 3.2GHz easily. Are you sure it is an OEM CPU and not retail? I will check it out tomorrow, trying to build a budget PC. Am either going to get this or an E7200 and cheap mobo which will end up costing $175 but the CPU is retail. |

I have a few of these I bought in the last few weeks that I need to price match tomorrow. |

Frys.com prices good for online purchases only. In-store items and prices at Fry's retail locations may vary. Some online offers are subject to prior sale and may not be available.

And some of them may be online as well. I don't know how to tell what will be online until they update the page. |

$699 - Samsung LN32A550 32" 1080P LCD HDTV This one is actually advertised as $799 in the Atlanta area Labor Day ad today (999-200). The extra $100 makes a difference for me -- pass for now! |

Anyone know of any unadvertised specials for today? I went last year and they had several nice deals that they didn't put into the circular. |

Just back from store which is pretty deserted. - Bought multiple of FAR stuff (Kasperky, Canon Printers) and used $300 of Norton Debit Cards. Glad was able to use them before $3.00 Monthly Fee kicks in! |

Several of the rebate deals were NOT in my paper as well. I don't know if it's a misprint or what. But the Q6600 is there, so I'll be grabbing that in a few minutes. |
