Internally is there any advantage of the Inspiron 518 over the Inspiron 530? At first glance, the only difference I see is how many PCI slots, I think.

In for 1. Great find Op! Does Dell check that you are really an employee to get the EPP discount?
This blows away the other deals. Better parts internally and free shipping to boot.
It's not tape. Search for "conductive ink pen overclock". It works on Dell's (what the original pin mod was done on).
Unless there's something you really want to add the extra 5% coupon on 799$ raises the price.
And FC is not valid on Dell EPP purchases. Still Green though for the config, especially the HDMI. Just drop in a TV tuner and you have a great Media Center PC.

I tried to search it, but found a lot of different results, which one should I look for? private message me if must.

Can you guys let us know if the PS looks replaceable. I'm skeptical if 300 would handle overclocking the CPU and a decent video card. If I can drop in my current 500 watt PS then this looks like a great deal.

Here is a link for overclocking a XPS420 Q6600. The CPU pictures at the bottom show you which pin to mod.

One connection would be VGA and the other DVI... resulting in different quality display depending on which you look at.
mugimba said: Is this mobo limited to 3gb of ram like the 530 was? No, you can add more RAM.. but wouldn't make much RW difference to the everyday user.
In the past I have been able to buy units from EPP but today when I went to buy it, it subtracted the $280 discount.
I wonder if they are flagging certain account??
Update: Nevermind, it took it out during the checkout process.

I have done this mod more than once and it has never failed me. I have even done it with E1200 to take them from 1.6ghz to 2.6ghz. All you need for that is a 2 pieces of tape, one made of copper one made of plastic. Defogger kits are too much of a pain. If you miss with the tape just remove recut and try again.

You have to click "credit card" as your payment option and then you see the "4% off" buttong to click.
In for one... I'd been holding off on the $499 + tax deal for the quad core and this is a better deal (better video card) and cheaper. Plus, with 3 months of no interest - I can pay $150 a month and not break the budget.
EuroCat said: any good vista TV card out there ? HTMI, nice TV card, we all set for MC.. HTMI?
Anyway, I've been looking for a good HTPC, and this looks like it's the best bang for the buck. CPU fast enough to run 1080P h264, HDMI-ready (HDMI can carry audio in this card apparently), video card hardware support for h264 and other formats to speed up all those tasty movies (!), DX10.1 support, gbit LAN (?), nice little case.
The only downside is it's Dell (Dell support really). I'll research it a bit and might just bite it, although I may be able to build a custom box for the same price. The video card is only $50 and I would personally prefer to go for a higher version, like this.
For some reason my order doesn't show up in the order tracking section of my account yet. Anyone else having this problem??

By looking quickly at the tech specs, this board has no PCI-E 16x it seems. Seems like a good deal, but I wanted to either put in a better graphics card or a hardware raid card for storage. Still seems like an awesome deal for a HTPC since its attractive and like the previous poster said, should have the horsepower to handle HD.

I bought this; my big disappointment is there's no pci-e power cable, so I can't power a video card. I have a 7300gt (doesn't require 'external' power) that will work, but the 8800gts/320 won't, so I'm quite disappointed. Off to call Dell.....
