Nice price for those that already have a mobo and parts to run it. Wish it were a dual core though. Even at this cheap a price I am not sure it is worth it to upgrade my sempron 3800. Any opinions?

I would say no. You'll see some speed increase, but not that much. If you're looking for a faster system it would be better to save the $22 and invest it in a x2 AM2 system at the beginning of next year. You'll have to shell out for a new board, new ddr2 memory and a new chip, but, you'll see a much more substantial bump in performance.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, I would try your hand at conservatively overclocking the sempron. I hear those things overclock really well.

This chip is ideal for a beginning user build.

Can anyone tell me or recommend a site to see if I can replace an Athlon 1600 or Athlon 2200 with this?
Thanks!

I am 95% sure there were no socket 939 Athalon 1600 or 2200s those are most likely Socket A and so no, this will not replace them.

What about upgrading from an Athlon 64 3200 2.0GHz? Would I notice the difference?

Or Athlon 64 3000 1.8GHz?

Nice upgrade for those who got the CompUSA $125 PC deal some time back.

I'm using one of those computers now (if you mean the july 4 2005 sale) but its a socket 754. I still don't need upgrade with an AMD 64 3200.
